Most disorganised, last minute grow ever!

I can't believe the difference the air purifier has made in the grow room, it feels really nice in there. Usually when we first go in in the morning the room feels a bit stuffy cos the door has been shut all night, but this morning it felt really fresh and clean, it's great and if I'm feeling the benefit then surely the girls are too. They look good anyway.
I gave them 500ml each of 2.5ml a litre Canna A & B last night and there's no ill effects today so looks like I got it on target, thankfully.
I have a feeling they're about ready to flower but I want the other light up before I flip them and I don't want to put it up until the fans arrive, so I'm just kind of stuck for the time being, which is frustrating. I've read that once the pre-flowers are fully developed they're ready to flip, but how will I know they're fully developed?? That'll be today's research project.
I'll post pics tonight, they're really filling out now :peace:

Meh I figure if it can't hurt then I'll give it a go, I'll use any help I can get (:
If your environment and nutrients are right, co2 will pay for itself an order of magnitude over not running it. There are insane amounts of scientific evidence on the benefits of co2 supplementation. It is harder to grow this way, because you have to pay so much attention to every aspect of your grow, but the rewards are worth it. Always remember, it's a weed, and it will grow and bud under a 20w incandescent bulb, with no nutrients. Does that mean it will grow bumper crops? No. Every improvement you make to any aspect of growing will equate to increased yields and quality. You most definitely on the right track, and you obviously got a mind for detail. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to fallowing your grows :)

Thanks man, it's good to hear that! I'm really enjoying the whole thing, I've got so many ideas for things to do and try and I just love seeing every little change in the girls, it's like having kids all over again lol. It's a lifesaver at the moment as I'm off work due to an injury caused by my condition and it's driving me mad being laid up, so the grow is a Godsend right now! And I can not wait to be smoking my own shit out of a jar instead of settling for whatever the wannabe gangsters can get their hands on, usually a baggie full of stalks. I'm in more and more pain all the time these days so it'll be awesome having my own supply of medicine :bigjoint:and all the learning that I think has to go hand in hand with growing keeps me occupied too :peace:

I can somewhat relate to you. I've worked construction my whole life, and growing has always been a serious hobby. This summer I had carpal surgery on both wrists, and two hernia surgeries. After three months off work, surviving on my hobby alne, I figured it wouldn't be a big step to trade my construction for my hobby. I'm not regretting the decision. Growing relaxeses as well as strengthens the mind and body! No more destroying my body for somebody else. Its been a big step as my grow income was only half of my total income. That's the reason for my second room. Its taken all my savings, and taking on a partner, to get where I'm at, but so far the results have been worth it. That three months off work let me realize the true love of my gardening. I could go on and on, but I feel that you will know just what I'm talking about. It's not about the $, it's about the love of growing for myself, and helping others. If I can make even just a living doing this I'll be more then happy. I hope this experience helps you in ever way. You will come out a better person regardless of the results :)

That's awesome, good for you! I'd love to have a proper setup where I could be a full time gardener, what a great way to spend your days. Unfortunately it's just way too risky to grow commercial amounts in the UK. I totally agree it's not about money, as long as we get enough to cover what we've put in, because every purchase really has been a massive sacrifice out of our meagre weekly budget, and upgrade our setup for next time then I'm happy just to be in control of my own supply and to be doing the growing. I have a very active mind and I need to be using it so I enjoy learning for its own sake, which makes growing my ideal hobby. I gave knitting a good try but it's just not me!
Thanks for all your help and advice so far, I'm very glad to have you along for the ride (:

Looking good this morning, gonna go get them fed in a minute when I've had my coffee. Think I'll stick with 2.5ml a litre for today, just to make sure I don't push them too much.
Oh one of the little cheeses fell over through the night so it's almost bent double where it's kept growing towards the light, bless it :peace:20160311_085048.jpg

EDIT I can't get my bloody link to work right in my signature which is annoying! Anyway, what I actually meant to add is that I'm thinking of doing some LST on the girls, it's a bit late I think to start chopping bits off but maybe I can still make sure they get plenty of light all over.

My boyfriend has been in there before, with his mate who hasn't a clue, cutting off fan leaves and rearranging my grow room and in the process they've kicked over the air purifier and broken it. Somehow, it was my fault for leaving it there.... Had I had any idea they were gonna start moving things round and pulling bits off then they wouldn't have been in there, never mind my poor air scrubber! I am not a happy bunny but I ain't getting into my relationship issues here!

Anyway, girls are drooping again, seems to be every time they get watered or fed they all droop so I've stopped worrying about it, by the time they've had a rest tonight they'll all be ok I'm sure. If they don't choke to death on the unscrubbed air first!

All looking good again today. I was feeling a little bit bitter yesterday lol but I'm on it again today!

I've been in there all morning, I cut some pieces of carpet to fit around the edges of the grow room door to block where the light is getting out, so you can't tell from the hall that there's a bright light on in the room. I tried some LST on one of the girls last night. The little bent cheese plant gave me the idea. I'm only playing with one, which I don't think makes any sense, it's hardly a fair trial to just do one to see if it works, it's going to be at a different height from the others now and they'll be in its light. I'll have to find a way to ensure it stays in the sweet spot, I'll have to raise it up somehow, no drama, and then it'll do well and I can prove I can be trusted to play with the plants!
It was interesting tying her down anyway, it didn't go quite like I had planned, I hadn't taken into account the plant having a mind of its own, but I think I got there in the end. This morning you could barely see I'd done anything as it had all just grown in to fill the gaps so I tied down all the new strays after their feed. Fed them 3ml a litre A & B at 500ml each, bit stronger than yesterday but they seem to be taking it ok again. Just moved them all around under the lights as usual. Can't wait for the other light to come, I'm struggling to move them about quite as much now to keep them even under the lights. I need those fans to turn up.

Hey canna they look fantastic, growing vigorously and green. :D

How long do you plan on growing them until you flip to 12/12?
We're thinking tuesday for the flip. Hopefully they'll have had chance to get used to the extra 600w hps by then and the little cheeses will be under the t5 in my closet. They seem much sturdier now so I think they're ready :peace:

Got the fans and second light in yesterday, the girls are looking good. I put one fan down next to the girls blowing lightly over their tops and then another blowing down on the grow area from outside the sealed off bit. They seem to have taken to it just fine, I was a bit concerned because of how they reacted when they first moved to the hps but they seem to be ok.
Little bit concerned that I think we might have a slight calcium deficiency in a few of the plants and I assume the others probably have it to a less visible degree also, but I'm only guessing. This is where my inexperience is going to show itself, I should have been prepared for this, I've read it can be a problem in coco, now I have no cal-mag, it'll be the end of the week before I can get some, and my girls are meant to be flipped tomorrow. So that's today's puzzle. We live and learn.
i also tried my hand at cloning last night. I have rooted cuttings before, just not cannabis cuttings! I read to take double what you actually want so I took 5 or 6 I think. I had no root hormone but I coated the stems in watery honey after cutting off all growth except two leaves on each and potted them in moist coco. I put them in the little plastic tray thing under the T5 and I'm keeping the lid misted. Maybe I should put a hot water bottle under them or something? I'm not really expecting anything from them but I wanted to try it because I want to know what I'm doing further down the line and experience is the best teacher.
The little cheeses look bloody awesome. One of them I can just see is gonna grow into the perfect little bonsai with a little help, I'm gonna keep it short and tidy and sturdy. Not sure how I'm gonna play the other yet, it was a very small weedy clone so it's only just getting its shit together and putting some growth on. My little bonsai though.... I'm in love.
I think that's everything.... I've been lazy the last few days about keeping my journal and now I'm sure I've forgotten some stuff.
Oh, we want to go to 12-12 tomorrow, they've been on 16-8 the last few days, today will be the third day I think. They always seemed tired at the end of the light cycle so we decided to let them get some extra rest since we don't need them any bigger and they have double the light now. I know people say they don't really need rest but mine seem to like it. Anyway, we want the 12 hours of light to be during the day so we're not blazing lights all night at unusual hours. It also makes more sense to be using all that electric during the day than at night. The problem I have is how to switch it, since they're due to turn ON at half 9 tonight, so I'm not sure how to rearrange the schedule to make it all fit? Like I can't just literally flip it all round to the times that are convenient to me, surely that'd be a major stressor? I'm thinking less light tonight, so like instead of running the light from tonight to tomorrow aft, we run it from a bit earlier this evening until early in the morning, give them a break and then back on tomorrow morning for 12 hours... I think. More reading to do... :peace:

Hah, we're in the same boat, I'm fighting off a magnesium deficiency and just ordered some cal/mag and a reverse osmosis filer today!

I've heard that honey works, but I've never tried it meself, so I'm eager as to whats going to happen. They should take around 10 days to clone, sometimes faster, sometimes longer. You just have to provide them with a humid climate (they ahev nor oots to draw water from) and that's really it from what I remember. Don't forget to give them fresh air every now and again.

I've always been a fan of night periods, sure, lots of people have evidence for both sides of the coin, but I just feel sorry for my plants, they look so droopy and tired after 18 h of light. :D

Get ready for that stretch!

The widows have been flipped, it's all very exciting, running them from 8am to 8pm, nice and simple. They're getting near a litre a day each now, split over 2 feeds a day at 3ml a litre. The little cheeses are looking good under the T5, feeding them every couple of days and they seem really strong, and none of the clones are visibly dead yet, which I'm taking as a good sign! I'm opening them up for a few minutes a couple of times a day when I see to the others, and I'm keeping the lid misted for them so it's really humid in their little propagator.
Struggling to add pics so I'll do it in a sec off the tablet.
