It defo has done the trick. I'm glad I tried it as an unexpected frost would have destroyed all my hard work! Maybe you should give it a go with your cinnamons...

You got that right Staropramen. I can't thank this site enough for the help I have had from so many different users.
I dread to think what my grow would have looked like without all the advice I have taken on.

my 1st grow was overfed,hermie, really everything what could be wrong was.

until i found riu.

I'm the same. All I knew was to put some seeds in any old soil and water and occasionally add some miracle grow! I have learnt so much from RIU and the people on here. I find I’m already answering other people questions and trying to solve problems from what I’ve learnt on here!!!

The only reason my plants are as far along as they are is because I got paranoid about the October weather so forced flowering to give them a headstart!
The strain is Hawaii x Skunk #1. Sativa strain designed to be grown outdoors, and recommended to me by the seed shop once I told them I was growing outdoors in the UK. I’ll try and keep a mother going over the winter so I can grow some clones next year. Great strain for a 1st timer!


Sorry to hear about your hermie. Think I have had some beginners luck with my grow. No bugs, no nute problems and nice healthy looking plants. Let’s hope the smoke is good!

Well not too much to report

The girls which I have now named (Alice, Daisy & Kahula) are budding nicely.

They were in the shed yesterday in complete darkeness for 18hrs because of the weather. It would have battered them had they have been left outside.

I haven't watered them in like a week because of the rain. Hopefully a little bit of dry weather will allow me to water them in a few days. They are starting to give off a really nice skunk smell. It's a really sweet smell gets your tastebuds going!

They have been going for 95 days
and been on a flowering photoperiod for 30 days

say hello guys, cracking on nicely after overfeeding the girls and losing some leaves, am budding for a week now, after overfeeding through spraying the feed onto the leaves and via vains because its so wet and have been struggling to feed as the soil hardly dry`s out due to crap weather here, really hoping for some clear dry days, so as i can get some terra flores malossaes blackstrap into them,not going to try vain feeding with these babes again, I dont know how its going to work out but wouldnt have got this far without this site and journal,,

Weather hasn't been too bad recently. It seems to rain during the night when the plants are locked away. I'm using terra flores and it seems to doing the job very well. Gonna invest in some Canna PK 13/14 to complete my set. Also bought some superthrive but thinking about not using that until my next grow...

I had some questions if anyone can help...
A lot of the lower (smaller) leaves are going yellow now that flowering is well on its way. I have picked the ones that look near dead off, should I pick off the ones that are heading the same way to say time and energy.

Also what about the huge fan leaves? I have heard that taking these off towards the end of the flowering period can help. It would certainly let in more light to the lower buds...

The smaller leaves towards the bottom of the plant turning yellow is perfectly normal at this stage for your plants... it happened to my GDP too... it starts at the bottom and moves progressively up the plant. Any leaf that has at least 30% green should be left on the plant, as it is still producing energy to help the plant grow and develop, so I wouldn't pick them until when you grab the leaf stem where it meets the main stem and they just fall off when you gently pull a little bit (otherwise they will naturally fall off and if they get mixed up with your buds they could cause problems down the road).

Ok, so you should flush for about two weeks before harvesting by just watering with pure water... right around when I start doing that is when I start removing sun leaves starting at the bottom of the plant, and moving slowly up the plant... so basically when its harvest time, there aren't a whole lot of large sun/fan leaves left on the plant... but of course you want to be a bit more picky as you go up the plant to take only certain leaves that block pathways for light to get to lower leaves, and make sure that you don't take too many at once, and make sure you don't strip them all off over time or the plant won't have any way to make enough energy to support itself and it will die... so if you start at the bottom and just remove a few a day (5-20 depending on plant size, strain, and growth pattern), you shouldn't have taken too many by the time you harvest...

Stop putting them in the shed all together... you are probably at what 13 hourse of light a day? Maybe even 12 or less by now, so putting them in the shed is not such a good idea, especially because the concrete and brick will attract molds fungi and other diseases to your plants.... Let their pots dry out COMPLETELY before they get any water again, put a fan on low blowing directly on them if you can (and hopefully you get some windy dry weather, that is all I get here), take off any mold if you see it continue to spread... make sure to examine the mold closely and if you could take some pics of it... my dad was talking about world wide blights getting worse the last time I talked to him... make sure the places that you took the moldy buds from don't start to mold! That is key to keeping it from spreading, open wounds and humidity starts the decay of organic material faster, causing the mold to actually spread easier and quicker.

As it stands, sunrise is at 06:40 and sunset at 19:30. So 13hrs of sunlight. Becuase of where I live and the climate the mornings are very damp so I prefer to keep them in the shed. The damp during the night also draws out the slugs...
The dehumidifier is drying the shed out nicely by the looks of things. I am waiting for a digital thermometer/hygrometer to arrive any day to keep an eye on the humidity. I'm gonna run the dehumidifier on a timer until I get it down to around 25%.
Not watered since removing the mold, no pics I'm afraid. Destroyed the mold with a mini blow torch!
Have a fan in the shed blowing on all the plants throughout the night to circulate air.
The sun has been shining the last few days with a nice breeze to accompany it. I'll keep you all posted on the mold situation. Cheers for the info loaded

Have been busy today with an arts and crafts project! I wanted to build a drying box for the buds when they are ready. With a decent size box I fixed a 90mm computer fan to the outside as an extractor and placed some intake holes at the bottom to allow cool air in. I have 4 rows of 4 lines of string inside the box to hang the buds on. The fan is hooked up to my pc where I can adjust the speed of it. The box is airtight apart from the intake and exhaust spaces.
What do you guys think? Should I keep a gentle flow of air going through there all the time? Any other suggestions?

So I was wandering in the woods this morning with my dogs when I stumbled upon a male plant I disposed of ages ago.
Just chucked the plant without a pot into some shrubs and low and behold it has found roots!
Big daddy too...
The plot is nowhere near where my girls are. If I wanted to collect the pollen how would I go about doing that?
