Hello,

I'm sorry to bother again with something that is probably very obvious, but I'm about to order this stuff and I would like to have someone look over this before I do that.

Is this configuration a good idea, or should I get something else?

4 x Cree CXB 3070 LED
1 x Mean Well HLG-120H-C1050 A or B LED Driver

HLG-120H-C1050A is the model with internal dimming and HLG-120H-C1050B is the one where I can attach an external right, is that right?

For the record: I won't have a ton of grow space, probably 2 feet x 4 feet x 4 feet. Maybe I can get 4 feet x 4 feet x 5 feet. But that wouldn't be enough light?
If someone has a recommendation that is better-suited for any of the two above space-configurations, I'd be very glad. In terms of money, I want to stay under 300 bucks for the light.

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far, especially littlejacob, who is putting in a lot of work here without receiving anything in return! (I haven't figured out how to like posts on here yet.)


Edit: Also, what is the best colortemperature to get for the COBs? 5000?

Hey, I have a grow room sized 14sqft, and I think it need 600w cob led am I right?
Which leds should I buy and which driver.

Try tastyled /pacific light concept/gogreen led/Johnson grow light or heavenbright...some of the owners are members here!
If you buy one panel from one of those companies you will throw your hps after the first try...you are lucky because in a year or two nobody will use hps anymore...
Just ask to yourself : what do I prefer 0.7gpw with hps or 1.4gpw with cob (and nothing else! ) it is the good question!

Just check out thoese companies you recommned. Their lights look monster, but also really expensive.
btw Im Asia, Those unit from US probably cost another 200 for shipping all the way here.

Im sure I do want to use LED, but man....I already spent around 1500 on my new grow equipments.
Thats pretty much all my budge for my new setup.
I prefer 600watt unit 400watt at least, but I can not afford one with big panel right now.
Im sure I will use led for my future grow.

You dont use HID anymore? I thought HPS cover yield, led improve quality.
so I was thinking use both. what do you think?

You are in Asia...lol...and you have problems with shipping costs...same for us but the reverse...lol...we buy almost everything from Asia!
Kingbrite is in Asia! (Alibaba!)
I used hps for more than a decade and I tried cxb3590...no more hid for me...I live in a hot place half of the year and I can't afford the heat from hid anymore now I have cob!
I was in 0.7/0.8gpw range with hps...now it is 1.2gpw and I can go to 1.4 for sure...so why do you want me to use hid anymore?
Plants are shorter bushier and produce very dense nugs of top quality weed!
No way for me to turn back...never!

My best reward would you pulling a lot of good weed from some great diy panel you made mon ami!
And in a while you will do the same for other peoples!
I will go with 4x4x5 even if you don't use all the space...if you plan on doing more light later...if you don't 2x4x5 would be great!

but man....you might already know that, you get everything cheap in China
If thats good stuff it probably worth you to ship all the way to states, and cheaper than you can get locally.
For me, I always buys nutrients from states and spent two times or three times of its value to ship here. If I buying those expensive grow equipment from states. I will need to pay import tax. not sure whats the percentage they charged I think its somewhere around 10-15%. thats probably another 300-400 including shipping. I would really want to try one that made by those people spent years on researching marijuana cultivation with led form the US. but I can say I can not afford one right now. I got all my equipment in included 10 x 5 tent, 12 sites ebb system, 2 600watt air cool hid, fan, carbon filter, muffler under 1500USD. 2000USD is all my budge, so I guess only 500USD left. Do you think I can get one with 500USD? Too bad I know those COB LED too late, should have know that before I bought those HID. I still need another 600watt when flower. Do you think there is any good panels I can get from Asia? I have watch some DIY videos, and I think It would be hard for me to cut and find the metal that hold the COB and fan. Any idea I can have my girls with those COB with good price? really want to use it! I would like to pull 1+/watt

Idk a cob panel commercial company in Asia...but I know that www.cutter.com and @welight could tell you more have a cree cxb 3590 mounted on a hs with a fan you just need to plug some to a driver and the fan to a 12V psu that's it...it is not already made but the big job is done...you just need a bunch of wago with a leverage and a few wires to plug it in series or parallel depend on the driver you will choose!
But this combo cxb hs fan look nice for you...but you can't add lens or reflector with those so if you spray yoir plants with those you will have to do it outside the tent!

CXB3590 @ 3500K, basically thats where I am. I want to run 5 cobs @ 1400ma on an hlg240. I want it to have a spread of 4X2 with around 800ppfd. As far as heatsinks go I want to run an active cooling system (at least one fan) on what I think will be a 5.886 profile from heat sink USA at 36" long. Would that be long enough for the cobs to optimally reach out to the full 4 ft? Or should I try closer to the 40" mark? I'm completely new to led and designing one for practical use as far as all the technical jargon. If someone would kindly guide this young weedhopper, it would help out alot. I also read a little about the arctic alpine 64 plus'. Would they be a reasonable option and then just mount them either to or inside an aluminum tube with a server screen cut out for more vent? I'm trying to design this led I like to get to building but I dont want to waste my money or time on something that is metiocre. Id like to have an optimal light for both VEG and FLOWER. And if someone could explain what a dimmer does for the plants, meaning if it was on full versus half, qrtr etc.. What does the dimmer give u control over? Thanks again all.

You should go watch Growmau5 and greengene garden vids on youtube...lots of good infos and a mounting vid too...so go watch it and then you will have less questions or maybe none...they are good teacher...better than me!

I currently plan on building a stack dual chamber veg/flower cabinet. My cabinet will have a 2X2 floor. I am looking to make the following lights:

Flower:
4 X CXB3590 36V 3500K
HLG-185H-C1400 Driver

Veg:
4 X CXA2530 ??V 5000K
? Driver

Kindly advise as to whether the driver for the CXB3590 is the best option. Kindly recommend a driver for the 4 X CXA 2530s.

What BIN r u using for ur 5000k veg setup, and what is reason for 5000k... im trying to find whats best for veg lights...

oh and the Chinese put out some nice drivers that u can use, only thing is u would use 1 driver per cob.. check ebay n stuff, they are the same materials as the mean wells, ive read they re just the same quality and people have been using them for years..
