So I've found a very effective quick way that gets rid of them nasty gnats use a blow torch and wait until most of the soil is most, and make sure there isn't any leaves or anything you can burn at the bottom and some plants you can't do this on as you cannot have roots at the very top it has to be at least a inch of soil that you can move with your hands, you only have to do this for about 15-30 seconds you don't need to keep the torch on anything more then a second as you want to keep it moving, after 2-3 times you will get rid of them completely including the larva

I've got a video I made to show you how it works, it is possible to damage your plant if you burn or get the top soil to hot so you have to be very careful.

You don't have to use any chemicals which is a plus of doing this.

on a side note don't overwater wait until the top 2 inchs are dry before you re-water again to prevent them, ill upload the video later

Many might laugh at you for bringing this thought to the table but battling gnats is a joy that should only be felt by the most assinine of the cannabis community lololol.

I guess it is better than mites but fuck man these gnats will be gone for a month or two and one little fucker will find his way in and lay the damn eggs for a whole new shit storm.

Well I guess it may work.......wait, what???? What about the ones that are below an inch? What about the larvae? What about the ones that come out the bottom of the pot? Well you get it lol.

You mean the ones that run for their lives? You take that blow torch and you turn it up a notch and hope that your plants survive while the gnats die. Flailing around the room like a man with a flamethrower, hell bent on the destruction of the gnat kind.

You will realize in time Gnats are no biggy, the grubs chew the roots, (with minimal damage).

flying gnats are a pest to the grower and the worst that can be gleaned from these critters,

is they can be vectors for viri, in truth if you have gnats you are over watering and or are using low quality mediums to grow,

rather than upping the current trolls, improve your rep here on RIU,

and make it a study to actually learn this art of growing,

rather than learning by seeking undesirable attentions, from marginal growers

good luck

Gnats are a pain in the arse and if a blow torch worked I'd use it lol. My switch to full in hydro was, in part, due to them flying up my nose lol.

No more water, until they have gone,

less water will and does encourage growth,

to a limit,

less water prunes roots as does gnat grubs,

if really bad add neem oil(10%) to ur watering at seedling stage

good luck

I have no gnats and I have heard mosquito dunks will get rid of them in hydro but since switching, not a gnat to be had :).

Well to be fair, it does seem to be a common problem with coco, which you really can't let dry out too much without defeating the purpose of using coco in the first place.
