Additives and boosters will only boost the tawdry vendors that sell them. You (or your friend) are about to be duped, or IOW, "a fool and his money are soon departed."

16 essential elements is what you need....a clear understanding of plant nutrition and culture. It's an abundance of healthy leaves produced and maintained throughout the life of the plant that produces bud, not gimmicks.

Plants don't uptake amino acids, enzymes, sugars, or vitamins, they uptake ions. They make their own food using the atmosphere! Adding carbs to the roots will not feed your plant carbs.. The only thing it will do is alter the osmotic gradient between your water and your plant, which you shouldn't be doing unless you have a good reason for it.

Bottom line is that UB is right. Provide the essential elements and your plant will have everything it needs. Come back to us when you're done with the first year of your "horticulture college", man.

Also, no offense to the beneficial bacteria crowd, but bacteria is just there. You don't need to buy them. The right type of bacteria already exist in the environment they thrive in. If you're growing in soil, this requirement will already be met. The type of bacteria you want in soil is ammonia eating, not carb eating.

Does anyone have experience with Microbe Life Hydroponics Natural & Organic Beneficial Probiotic Additive line? Specifically referring to their: Photosynthesis Plus, Foliar Spray & Root Dip, Fruit & Vegetable Yield Enhancer and Nourish-L. Ive heard some VERY impressive feedback regarding these additives, particularly the Photosynthesis Plus. Apparently tests were conducted on tomatoes & allegedly the plants treated with the PP produced 50% more yield, again ALLEGEDLY! I would love to see some actual, factual data to back up these claims but I digress. Has anyone used this stuff & what is your opinion on it?

There's no winning product, ando 1 grower can grow with base notes while the other grower makes a soup fit for Ripley's believe it or not and base notes wins. Other times the soup will be effective.

Sharpen your skills then buy new tools, but don't expect a 400 dollar jug to do the work of years of experience.

I am friends with the local hydro shop owner and actually was given a bag full of the sample sizes of the four you listed. I don't believe it had a negative effect on my plants but if it had a positive, it wasn't much. In DWC, it makes the roots dirty and it's hard to wash off. Overall, not impressed. By the way, it smells like shit. All of it. The worst farts on the hottest day in a plastic bottle.

If you don't believe me you can purchase a sample kit but don't be surprised to see that it doesn't hurt or help your plants at all and makes your room smell like rotten eggs for a few hours.

Back to reality here, I'll give you a some facts:
If you use RO you will need Cal-mag supplementation with most hydro specific base nutes.
If you don't use roots excelerator your plants will be fine, but with, the roots explode in half the time.

People on boards will get on the 'no additive' kick for a grow or two, they will be all bragging etc. 2 grows later they are back to using additives, just not bragging so much anymore, giving everybody on the boards the impression that they must be crazy if they are using any additives.
I've grown without additives and with, and form my personal experience with HYDRO, I can unequivocally say that: LESS SHIT GOES WRONG WITH SOME BASIC ADDITIVES!
So how about some people that actually grow Hydro with NO additives showing us some pics of their grows, that would be a lot more helpful then this your stupid, no you are stupid bullshit!
I would love to drop the additives out, but I will not do it on the word of someone who grows in soil.

Though i agree for hydro growing some additives are beneficial, all "root accelerators" are a waste of money. I have tried them but I personally never used any root excelerators anymore and by using certain watering techniques you can fill your medium in less then 3 days with nice healthy roots. I feel quality buds are grown using proper care technique and can be done without all the additives by having proper knowledge of what the plant NEEDS at the right stages of her life. I think some additives however make life easier on the grower. I am personally a fan of Cutting Edge Solutions and their additives they are fairly inexpensive in the additive price ranges and i have had some great results. I currently have some Gorilla OG, G13 Haze(which is looking and smelling like FIRE), and some Alien Rift(So far my biggest yielder and also coming out like FIRE). I used the entire additive line for this grow and im noticing some great result differences. I currently am experimenting with a Outdoor Organic soil grow and i notice there are less options and information online so without knowing how to care for a plant already i can see how this would turn out some bad results for people who rely on additives and nutrient lines. I have friends who produce top shelf quality and pay less then 20 dollars on nutes from local garden stores granted they are soil growers not hydro. I think the two are different and Uncle ben is a soil grower then that explains why he is anti-additives because with a proper soil you don't need them.
