Soil without cooking?

Thnx for all the info btw everyone. Learning a lot on this thread. Now I just gotta find some compost. I have some in my backyard that's been here for like 6 months. But it's not steaming so I know I'm not doing something right. Have it in a 100 gallon compost sack. And it's pretty much full.

The recipe from rasta on page 1 calls for neem. He also said you shouldn't have to wait with this recipe. So neem cake?

Yes neem cake is what you're after if looking for an amendment..The cake is the left-over seed shells after they've had the oil pushed out of them. Funky stuff, like grease monkey said, Neem is hot. But with the amount you're using you should be fine.. Just don't go over 1 cup/ cuft. I've planted clones directly into fresh batches and they did fine. Honestly better than the ones in roots organics beside them (strictly testing.)

usually won't steam that long man, just the first month or so.
And if mistarasts uses neem with no cycling i'd say it's fair to believe him, I just don't personally, the amounts I use I think would create issues.
But that being said, I don't amend my soil anymore, just the compost

What's the consistency of the compost like? Is it light and fluffy? Or still heavy?

Ahh really? Thanks I might just try to use mine then. It's full of worms and grub worms and it looks good. The bottom of the bag anyway. The top is isn't conposted yet. I think I'll give it a try. So Is dog poop compost able? Figured ad ask that first. I have two dogs who poop in my backyard a lot where I get a lot of the leaves and stuff for composting. So there's quite a bit of that in there.

yea, in theory...
but a dog poo compost i'd arrange totally different, getting those thermophilic portion of it REALLY hot to destroy any pathogens..
If theres quite a bit of it in there, you may want something different..
BUT I've never used it, nor have I composted it (luckily I live in the redwoods and my dog disappears for ten minutes when she shits... so whos to say)

Yeah that's what I figured. But everything in my backyard grows like freaking crazy. It'll turn into a jungle in no time if not tended to. So everything back there seems to like all he dog poop. And I figured since the weed isn't people consumed it should be fine right?

I yield more in hydro. Even in rich organic soil, I yield a lot more when I feed every watering with botanicare pure blend. It is a no till with tomatone, red wigglers and all the amendments.

You run pure blend pro through your pots and your worms don't mind?

As far as I could tell it didn't bother them. The plants seemed to like it.
Did you ph it?

I ask because a number of years back I was still expirimenting with synths/organics. Pure blend pro was my favorite thing to use, I ran in roots organics and didn't even have to ph it. Plants seemed to love it. I have no need for it anymore, just thought I'd share..

Mistarasta, what teas do you give your plants during flowering?

Malted Barley tea, every week or so.

5 gallons of water
1 cup (ground up)malted barley

Brew no more than 4 hours

At the end of the brew after all the barley is strained I add in the rest.

4 Tbsp fulvic acid
1 Tbsp coconut water powder
1/2 tsp aloe
1 Tbsp Potassium silicate

In my opinion it's very beneficial to use bi-ag's ful power. It's a catalyst of catalysts and it super charges my barley tea.

I used to do all the listed ingredients in two separate tea's, but found it easier to put it all in one, see more of a surge out of my plants.

This. I feed them that every week. You don't use any neem teas during flowering?

I was using alfalfa/kelp teas in rotation with the barley, Cut them when I started using alfalfa from my local feed store, stuff is way too hot..I've never really thought about the sulfur content in Neem outside of applications for pests and fungus. This would be a good item to swap the alfalfa out for. I really like the tricantonol as I feel like it boosts terpene production. I wonder what I'd be like in conjunction with the sulfur from the Neem? Probably Amazing

What are your ratios on Neem in flower? I know there's quite a bit of N in there so I'd like to be careful as I've burned far too many plants with alfalfa and seabird guano

And do you mulch your pots? I found doing this halts the need for any nutrient type teas so long as your compost is good of course..

This is a recipe from CC.

3/4 cup of neem meal

1/4 cup of kelp meal

Bubble this in 5 gallons of water for 24 hours or so. To that add the following:

1.25 cups of Aloe Vera juice (1/4 cup per gallon)

2 tsp. Pro-TeKt

Apply full strength.

It didn't say when to stop watering with this, but I would assume at week 4.
You dilute your teas, right?

Yeah, I mulch my plants. I use rice hulls.

Seems to be heavy on the Neem. That's strictly opinion of course as I've attained most of my direction from CC. He's not growing finicky strains like me and I've found to cut ratios on most recipes by about 1/2 for my ladies. This Strictly pertains to nutrient teas. Enzyme tea's and the like are used at full strength. Tbh If my plants were easier to access I wouldn't even make a barley tea, id just top dress it when needed.

I cut teas depending on finishing times. I grow a lot of 9-10 weeks trains and seeing how none of these amendments (so long as you don't use too much) actually feed the plant you can technically use them up to the day of harvest.

I experimented with this by giving my plants an alfalfa/kelp tea up to 7 days before harvest and a barley tea up to 2 days before harvest. Everything came out a lot more to my liking without any unwanted side effects, wasn't harsh and burned clean white ash.

I'm gonna start off using 1/2 tbsp of neem per gallon. How much kelp do you use when you make teas?
