Once again, correct. And that's a very good point to bring up. Definitely tape them separately from each other.

Maybe this is the type of dimmer intended. Notice that it connects to the house current. Actually I guess that's for on/off function. If you have a separate power switch I guess you would wire it as in the diagram on the right on this page.

I don't understand that. I've emailed pairui and also mark from cutter to explain how the he'll you dim on their LGSU-250-2109"D" driver. But with meanwells, it literally is 2 wires.

Purple & gray? Just get some Lutron dimmers and wire as in the second link I gave in my last post. The highest wattage for LEDs I could find was 150w, so you may need several. I don't know how much they could really take, probably twice that. Here's one, pricey though.

Hey anyone know of a PCB that has a suitable dimmer / pot that has a LCD read out that could be used for the % of dimming ??
they have them for temps in watercooling with a temp probe about a 1 1/2 " long 1" high display runs on a small hearing aid battery
 
you'll need this or one like it this runs 12v & 5 v 2 amps will push quite a few fans
IE;A/C64 uses .3 amp fans so 6 of those on this
has a 4 pin molex at the end that will plug right up to that terminal block

Alotta guys seem go passive just because of fan wire management only
I seen that going on by watching noob posts .

With "a" you can turn it up and leave it, and "b" you can leave wires un-used and just cap them off separately and forget them if u want

i got the hlg185 1400a..so basically if i run it at 50 percent i would be turning into a 700.and would get the same charctertics correct? that would make sense

thats what I'm doing going passive for my first run ..make it as easy as possible
 
Ya... I'm just gonna get an apv 12-12. My 2 fans I'll cut and strip the wires on, and just wire nut, or probably just crimp the negs and pos together on one end, and run the driver into the other end. The ac side will just go right into where the driver will onto the main wall cord. That's simple enough for me.

Basically, you lose a very small amoutn of efficiency dimming, but you gain way more efficiency from the cobs when dimmed

Basically the driver is most efficient when used at 100% Than means voltage and cuent, it will compensate slightly with higher current if the dc side isnt totally utilized, but that is maybe from 94% efficient to 93.5%??
same for dimming to half, maybe lose .5%
These numbers are fictitious as I dont know the real ones, but I they are listed in the pdf I think also
 
look for a 12v wall wort that has at least 1/2 amp output(check the label ) that would work fine look better & take up less room

you have one somewhere every thing that charges these days uses that config

I must have a dozen of them

then get a 3 outlet plug extension cord / then plug wall wort into it wire fans to this ext. cord parallel ,
then use another male plug to make a cord for yer driver
cut the male plug end off another extension cord (OR any old electronic will do ) then splice that Wire to inlet (A/C) on driver then plug now wired driver into where wall wort is on the 1st extension cord .
you now have a wiring harness for fans & driver all on one male plug that goes into the wall :)
