COB holders - the basics

The different reflectors for the chip-loc are listed in the table in the link. Some of them have a mirror like finish. 80 degree is very nice... with most spacing there's going to be a lot of light mixing with 80, 90, 120. Perhaps smaller emitters spaced close would benefit from 60 or 40 degree but I prefer to let light mix well and bounce off the walls. There is some evidence multi directional lighting facilitates canopy penetration and promotes growth. 80 degree gives both benefits.

There was a separate invoice listing the cob holders as "samples for testing". I wrote Jerry asking about availability. He said they are for customers wanting low cost solution, 30 cents each, and that Ideal holders were listed on the website but both would be available. So apparently they may not get listed on the website, but you can ask for them.

So, i need a holder by ideal then i need a holder for reflector, isn't that too complicated? I tapped holes for screws, made "vacuum" with thermal paste, fixed by a "non-holder", and it's not enough...this is really pisses me off. Could you show me why it's not enough? Why Ledil isn't mention about that?
CXA 3070
It's quite complicated but it makes sense and Ledil explicitly mentions everything you need. The adapter simply isn't a holder and won't hold the COB. That's why it's not enough.
If you don't want to use a reflector you buy the holder only. If you want to use a reflector you buy the adapter with it.

Is it dangerous for chip to work only with optics clamp?
Seems like it fixed cob tight, and i think it's way better than kapton fix.
For what purpose there is chip dimensions edging used in this reflector clamp if an ideal or other holder should be used?
Did anbody had success with reflector clamp only?

Honestly I wouldn't try it seeing as a holder is 2 or 3 dollar insurance in essence.

I am seriously tempted to buy a 3D printer and create a COB mounting/reflector solution that is easy and cheap.

Here are our options as I see it.
1) Ideal chip loc holder + reflector adapter + LEDIL angelina $10-14 per cob and you have to source 3 different parts.
2) BJB holder + LEDIL. good luck finding the BJBs at any US retailer.
3) Khatod : expensive , available direct, but high MOQs 50+ units min order.
4) Kingbrite holder/ideal holder plus lens: heavy, massive lens needed to fit 3590. lenses to keep clean. extra holes to tap
5) TE connectivity Lumawise Z50 holders: limited availability on mouser for larger COBs
The BJB holder can be purchased direct from there US office but MOQ I think is 100 or something in that area.

What holders are compatible with 3590? So far I know only about these two
Ideal - 50-2303CR
KB holder from @Rahz 's post #117
BJB and TE Connectivity holders don't seem to have 3590 version
e: LED-Holder 449 type 1 by Bender + Wirth should fit 3590 as well.
e: There's also a holder from Cutter

RE 3) is there a reason why you didn't mention a holder?

Bonjour
And what about a reflector with a lens to close it...or just a piece of glass to be able to spray my plants in the box without having to raise the cob every time...
I really don't want heavy lens...
And cob would be protected from dust!

Bonjour
Thanks greengene!
Is it findable in small quantities?
So I have to look for ledil reflector lens on Google...
Have a great day ★

That's also an option. But I like the Khatod lens. They recommend me to use this holder.
The ledil ones are quite convenient little things. And allow you maintain reflection vc collimation of lens and still protect...which is what I prefer.
Cool holder, I haven't seen that one yet. it's 80v rating is the only concern for many of the 150-200w single driver builds I see.
The khatods have a big ass base. The whole lens package reminds me of a giant SSL80.

If people are just worried about dust, water/foliar, and maybe a bug...then this spray is fully sealing and as transmittance as most silicones. I have some and it will pass electrical/water certifications. But it does not physically protect your arrays(also part of certain certs).

I'll have my workshop back up and running after christmas and can give some transmittance numbers this weekend probably.

The voltage rating is sufficient. There's always <80V between the holder pads when using Cree COBs.

Bonjour
Is it possible this spray will lower efficiency...because of the layer of .silicone on cob?
And if yes is it more or less than the loss with lenses?

Anyone grabbed any of these...

I like the same side wire terminals for certain builds. Mini reflectors are always a plus. No major reflector usability though, and 3 holes.
Just another option for the smaller LES cobs. Still not much for 3590's.
We also have the low cost holder in stock(400pcs) for the CXA/B3590, CUTANDROLL discount applies

Has anyone produced a pivoting COB holder and lens? I have a 20" x 36" tent with two plants in it. I would like to have 8 COBs, 4 in a square around each plant. It might be nice to have them slightly tilted inward and very focused.

Bonjour
It would great with 8 cxb3590 3500ºk 36V cd @700mA 220w 64% efficiency...150gr per plant!
