Looking to buy marshydro LEDs ?help

I wouldn't say I am in a hurry, I'm simply just seeing what's out there.

I asked what people should buy and yet no one can really give a straight answer. Most of the responses in here are the typical "use what I use" comments and seem to be obsessed with looking down on everyone else who doesn't use what they use.

The elitism in this thread is ridiculous.
 
There's a perception here that the anti Mars bias here is elitism. It's actually math plus...

The best LES devices are getting up to 140 lumens per watt, but the Mars are giving you only 4300 lumens for 140 Watts of power... that's about 30 lumens per Watt, about one fourth the light for the same wattage.

That's not even counting the claims of terrible customer service and high failure rates.

If you want led and want to do it on the cheap, get Cree bulbs at Home Depot.

Maybe yours wasn't a straight question(?). If you're not in a hurry, A51 looks like a better deal. There are other brands I've seen recommended. You might have given the impression of being disingenuous and won't get replies now. (That's my impression.).

If you've seen my lights, you'd know I'm certainly not elite. I tried to help untangle your question about non-DIY lights. I hope I helped.

It seems to me like projection. The people who bought Mars and recommend it can't accept that T5HO or CMH are better (cost-effective) options, and need everyone else to stop saying that. They need their choice to be portrayed in a different reality, blaming everyone else for not doing that. To me, that seems more elitist than simply pointing out that the price of epi-whatever lights aren't cost effective.

If people want to pay a premium to "just use LED" -- instead of traditional lighting (which produces more light for less energy) -- I'm ok with that. It just seems disturbing when someone like Dal advocates those lights, insisting that the cost-benefit should be ignored because he ignored it (and just use more watts, etc.).

That seems elite to me. "Let's pretend my light is something it's not! Everyone stop forcing reality into the discussion."

and what do plants care about lumens ?

if your paying under 50p per w of actual usage with led or induction then your getting a pretty good deal

some growers actually need the heat that hids give you its harder to make led plants drink as fast as getting enough light over the area is harder with the older type of units that use 1 to 3w leds instead of a unit that uses a cob, as 1w leds take up a load of space they`ll get you the best yield per w

but some people want to grow more that a 6 to 12 inch layer of bud, you need more power over less space to do that

I`d use mars units I just would not pay much for them or expect to get the best value for money from the electric I was using

Just to avoid the kind of confusion which has flourished lately, more power or more light?

You can get more light through distributed sources of light (not a monolithic fixture), and more efficient sources of light. More power from incandescent bulbs -- not necessarily usable light.

That's what quickly turns into "see the videos, they're producing pounds!" (without discriminating the power being used to do it) -- and then people complaining about elitism when power vs light becomes a topic.

Good point about heat being beneficial in some cases. Epi-whatevers have that quality.

There's some good cxb panel around here...tastyled...pacific light concept...Johnson grow light...go green led...I hope I didn't forget one(they all use cree cxb and meanwell drivers!)...if you are from US...there's others for EU!

I would say, for americans you can buy GoGreen or PacificLightingConcept, JohnsonLED, TastyLED, A51(all active cooling). For european you can buy BensHorticultureLighting (passiv cooling) or SpectraLabDesign (active cooling)

yeah with double the price and only a 3 year warranty, I'll buy 2 P600s and have two five years to fall back on. when you need to replace your CXB I'll be still growing at the same intensity.

Cxb are given for 50000h at nominal current...2800mA (max 3200mA I guess) and we use it @1400mA...so maybe 100000h...50000h is 10years of 30d vegg and 70d bloom!

A warranty is only good if the company that offers it is still around when you run into problems.

Given the allegations of shady business practices of Platinum (apparently ripping off Advanced's name and photos), and their reliance on old LED tech, I wouldn't bet on their long term viability.

You'll be supporting a businessman (Platinum) who had to stoop to ripping off the name of a reputable LED business (Advanced) to sell his epi-whatever lights because they wouldn't stand on the merits you claim they do.

Yeah, your cheap quality lamp needs 5 year warranty due to lack of quality. So be happy to send back your lamp to china to get replace. Please calculate cost for sending back to china. You will grow all time with same intensity but half yield like us. Or should I say we will grow same amount of yield in 5 years what you will do in 10 years:clap:

And sorry, P600 is same wattage like CX300. And CX300 is only 15% more expensive. So stop talking Bullshit! This terrible design of light is 5 Years old and your quality LED will be the same! Out of date! If you buy 2 lamps, you spend 80% more and have an unefficient Lamp.

Why does the p600 register 1160 µmols at 18"
at 345 watts.

that 15% more expensive CX300 registers 1015 µmols at 18"
at 340 watts.

And the spectrum is a lot better than just 3500k white.
I can flip on the veg and bloom configs to what I want to make my plants stretch late in veg.

Still not seeing the benefits for overpaying.
 
and if I need more intensity to match COB lights, which I want, supplement a 600W HID with my p600 and boom, look who has the intensity and spectrum now of a light advanced wants to charge over 1500 dollars for...
the CXB I see are used for white intensity, and surrounded with CREES for blue / red spectrum.
so really is buying CREE or CXB really worth the cost yet? when I can get the same light out of 800 dollars worth of equipment?
I feel good about not dropping 1500 dollars for the 1200W equivalent advanced wants to charge.
