Russian jet shot down by Turkey

FAIL...we talking air. Not ground pounding. Al Qaeda or Taliban have no aircraft or anti air. They can hide very well inside rocks though.
I've read that while the U.S. can just print more money and sell debt to expand militarily, Russia has to stick to a more realistic budget. Not only that, but Russia doesn't have oceans between itself and the rest of the world, thus it has focused on developing armor, AA, and advanced rocketry. The U.S. has an imperial military for an imperial mindset.

Russia is clearly geared toward a ground war, the type of war the American people can't stomach. The AA and anti naval capabilities are there to counter American strengths. It's also cheaper to build technologies that American tax payers fund the research and development for via Chinese hackers.

No war is fought conventional anymore... You need to send in ground troops and try to establish some sort of order... Vietnamese put the smash on the USA long b4 the Taliban and Al Qaeda

So no matter how superior your Air Force is ...unless your dropping Nukes... IED all over the ground until the US troops are sent back home like Cyborgs missing Limbs and all ...

No technology can Compete with Culture of people who've been in their homelands for 1000's of years... a 300 year old country has no idea what culture is... Americans wont sacrifice their own lives for the Land of the Ancestors ..

Evil Zionist Khazars have taken over the USA and are using the Media to brain wash all of its sheep into thinking everyone who is opposed to Israel is a bad guy....

BTW S400 can detect a mosquitos wings buzzing ... Once Lebanon approves Russian request to protect their Airspace ... its going to be on and popping

Germany go ahead and send your troops with the intention of fighting ISIS lol same country that sells Trident Sub armed with Nukes to ISrael

Zionist can disguise themselves like Chameleons and infiltrate governments of the West with Ease

Karma is on the side of Truth and Respect for Peace aka Russia

Londonfrog you sure seem young and a proud american,, i give you credit , if your Government had your kind of ambition and most of the population ?? it might be a good thing ,, Truth is American has been showing its force for some time and honestly its not impressive if we look back to the reason they use the excuse to invade a country.
Like there using chemical weapons, or nukes etc Ask your self North Korea has tested Nukes has satellites in space ,, How come USA has not invaded them ??? USA picks there fights wisely very wisely, in order to be a super power you need money and military power
Harriken is correct so far Russia has impressed the world in a grand manor ,, i mean what if that jet was a American Fighter jet ??? what would USA have done ??? think about it
Then ask your self who is the real war monger ..
USA Dam well knows the S-400 are ahead of there time and are being extremely cautious .
See the bullying has stopped since Russia stood up on the plate
When we look at it Russia's weapons are superior , not only are they also high tech there also old school both implemented at a much cheaper cost and more effective
You sure seem to the think the F-35 is the ultimate plane but honestly here from the builder
its funny the F-35 has a 2 way thrust vectoring , Sukkoi is 3d thrust vectoring

And they call this Humanitarian intervention ?? lets just topple a government, And put one that we like in place ??? What you think ???
And you wonder why so many countries or people hate on USA .
But back to the thread Russia is schooling USA presently and not many like this .. putting it into perspective since Russia said anything that poses a threat to them will be DESTROYED
Is USA scared ??? I think so since Russia deployed S-400's in Syria it appears USA has grounded there jets lol
There has been no US air strikes since they been deployed

No, the coalition has continued airstrikes. Russia is in no way stupid enough to shoot down a NATO plane. The ensuing shit show would be like 1991 all over again for them.

Edited to add: The S-400 is not "damn well ahead of its time." The system took ten years to develop, and then seven years to test. You said yourself that the S-400 can't hit a ballistic or cruise missile, whereas the Patriot Missile System could do both and it was developed in the 1980s. The Patriot is going to be replaced by the MEADS which is actually vastly more superior than the S-400 system. We've known about the S-400 since it was first being developed.

you must understand one thing New does not always mean better, and Russian military industry is not what it used to be. But betting against Russian armort is a bad idea. USA knows it
Breaking it down Russia could not compete ship for ship with USA
But what they got is still extremely DEADLY typhoon subs you remember the movie RED october ??? these subs are massive and carry a weapons pay load 3 times more then any US sub and are nondeductible.. and most feared
When we look at tank comparison the aging rusting fleet of the Americans ,, Abram M1A1 with small upgrades Against the T-14 Armata i would place your bets wisely who would come out on top ?? Rocket artillery The big guns of modern war are missile launchers—nothing says shock and awe like a rain of warheads. And Russia has the Edge when it comes to this
The Russians, on the other hand, tend to go for volume over accuracy. Their Multiple Launch Rocket Systems are trucks fit with lots of rocket tubes. The BM-21 Grad, for example, is a six-wheeled vehicle with forty launch tubes that can all fire within seconds. (Compare that to the 6-shot, more accurate HIMARS.)

However, they also have longer-range mobile missiles that could target NATO bases, airfields, troop concentrations, and civilians. Top of the list of deadly long-range missiles is the Iskander-M tactical missile system (NATO calls it the SS-26 Stone.) It can be ready to shoot 250 miles in just 20 minutes, delivering an 880-pound warhead to a target within 15 feet of where it's aimed. so who has the Edge ??? i would say Russia ..
But location location location put location of war into the picture and again Russia has the advantage your playing in there back yard ..
USA is going to need to rely on others to back them up ,, But them others are starting to divide

Interesting you got any links or proof cause it look like its been halted lol you do not want to get into the Patriot missile embarrassment now do you A spokesperson of the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) told Sputnik on Friday that the absence of anti-IS coalition airstrikes “has nothing to do with the S400 deployment” in Syria. sure it does has nothing to do lol
Rumour has it that Russia is going to impose a no fly zone shortly holy cow eh i mean today is the first time Russia jets are armed with air to air missiles

Also i like to add how most Americans, are like don't mess with us mentality I look at is as, You have just been messed with lol
I mean United States can't stop the Russians in Syria, as Russia has set up a no-fly zone.. This means that any military aircraft entering the combat zone, may be immediately shot down as a threat to the Russian airspace forces.
American sources claim that the Russian Federation with the assistance of deployed land-based air defense systems have established a no-fly zone over the entire airspace of Syria, in addition the approaches to the Russian airbase in Latakia are also closed from the sea to a distance of 100-250 km from the coast by the Russian navy, now conducting exercises in the Mediterranean sea.
Thus, the U.S. and its allies can't even carry out the air reconnaissance of the Russian Federation forces.

A source in military circles of the American military in Turkey reported that NATO aircraft, trying to get close to the forces of the Russian Federation, has been identified by radar, and the source of the radar could not even be traced.
“The Russians have indicated that they can see everything, and getting closer is not worth it, otherwise it will be shot down”, - said the American military.

“Frankly we were surprised by the air defense system of Russia
General Breedlove believes that “very complex air defense system” deployed by Russia in Syria is aimed not against the “Islamic state”, which does not have aviation. “They are against someone else,” said the commander of the NATO forces in Europe.

“After several years of discussion in the U.S.of plans to create no-fly zones in Syria to protect the rebels and civilians, appeared Vladimir Putin and in a few days established his own no-fly zone.
In the US the two parties argued for a long time and could not agree, about a no-fly zone, and Putin just went ahead and did it
Russia is striking not only the militants of the “Islamic state” but other groups of terrorists, which the US considers “moderate opposition to Assad” and supports them.

The response of the representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry is unclear, but apparently, the general sense was that “We can not discriminate between the different shades of 'crap'. So we will hammer everyone who shoots at the soldiers of the legitimate government of Syria, at whose request we are here”.

And the Americans had to accept it. Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said that the U.S. government will not use U.S. air power to protect the “moderate rebels”.

Apparently the “goodwill”, shown by the United States compromising with Russia, is not exactly “good”, but is caused by a complete fiasco of the U.S. armed forces, which in the last 20 years bombed only the 'Papuans' and forgot what it was like to deal with real high-tech adversary armed with modern sea and air defense systems.

And now the Americans are just lost because they do not know how to behave with those who are able to realistically fight back.

I would not call myself a young proud American. I would say I am a retired Vet who spent 22 years in the USAF. I see you are limited in your knowledge of what we have and what we don't have. Unlike you I never mentioned the F35 in our discussion. The reason being its still not considered a operation aircraft. You also compared it to a Sukhoi, but failed to say which Sukhoi. You also keep forgetting Russia does not have an operational STEALTH bird as of yet. The Sukhoi PAK-FA is not war time operational. Our F22 is operational and very stealth and is the best fighter aircraft in the sky. Google F22 and compare it to any Sukhoi.
Anyone would be cautious when flying around SAMs, but I understand how and why the F22 and our B2 would have very limited reasons to fear the S400. Bottom line is Russia would not dare hit one of our birds. If so prepare for Global Strike Task Force. F22 and B2 to the front door.

Russia's ground war would be fought on whose ground ? We went thru this shit with the USSR, only to find out how much of a bluff they were.

lol the F22 failed against the Euro fighter my god London get over your self USA cried when they found out they were getting shot down in Korea by Russian pilots true or not ??? you Seem to forget one important thing remember Kosovo ??? you know that 3rd world Country that shot down your so called Stealth fighter ??? that you were there illegally under international law ??
Truth is USA is hogged tied right now they are not flying in Syria not even doing reconnaissance they will be shot down they know it NATO knows it Russia is in Syria Legally USA is not what part do you not understand ??
The upshot is that US strikes against ISIL in Syria are probably illegal but widely recognized as legitimate. We are likely to see a rerun of what happened in 1999. Some states may seek to reaffirm the illegality of using force for humanitarian ends or to otherwise interfere in the internal affairs of states. However, most states will welcome this necessary action and simply stay silent on the question of legality.

WTF. The F22 did not fail against the Typhoon. The long range of the F22 coupled with its stealthiness means ownage. Now a close up dog fight, the Typhoon does a little better, but do tell how the fuck the Typhoon would get that close...or better yet even find the F22. The longer range of the F22 would have the Typhoon down before it even found or got close enough to engage the F22. Ask yourself "how many Eurofighters were "lost" trying to get to the merge before a single "successful" shootdown was achieved against the -22? The answer will tell it all

United States won the Cold War without battling Soviet troops. But since its humiliating defeat in Vietnam, America has engaged in a string of significant military conflicts and emerged the clear winner in only two—ousting Saddam Hussein from Kuwait in 1991 and bombing Serbia to the negotiating table in 1995. More recently, even quick, dramatic triumphs in Iraq and Afghanistan have turned into grinding guerrilla wars, the seeds of which sprouted into the Islamic State, or ISIS. So on the 40th anniversary of Saigon’s collapse, it seems timely to ask: Can America win a war? And what does winning look like in this seemingly endless era of murky counterinsurgencies, rogue nuclear states, Russian intrigues and Chinese encroachments?
For a country that boasts the best military in the world, the goal of containment may seem paradoxical or even defeatist. With annual defense budgets topping $500 billion since 9/11—more than any other country—the American military is unrivaled in its global reach, technological sophistication and destructive power. America’s stealth bombers and cyberwarriors, by most accounts, can paralyze a major adversary. But in the kinds of wars the United States is now fighting, badass new weapons may be less important than creative thinking. Airstrikes and drones, not to mention the powerful electronic surveillance capabilities of the National Security Agency (NSA), haven’t delivered victories over the Taliban or ISIS. Indeed, for all its technological know-how, the U.S. military hasn’t even figured out how to neutralize improvised explosive devices—one of the least sophisticated yet deadliest weapons U.S. troops have faced on the battlefield.

Washington is tired of these foreign conflicts, the polls say. And U.S. strategists must now use other means to find something resembling victory. As Andrew Bacevich, a former Army colonel, Vietnam veteran and the resident military sage at Boston University, says, it’s time to “acknowledge the limits of our power
This means the U.S. may have to learn to live with ISIS in the same way it learned to deal with Cold War conflicts in Latin America, Asia and Africa, where proxies and occasionally U.S. forces fought to contain Soviet influence. The United States didn’t win most of those conflicts; at best, it managed them to an acceptable conclusion.
Truth is USA is not winning wars

Have you ever seen what a country looks like after a war. Would you want to live in that type of environment ? What do you call winning ? I still say the people we fight lose more than we. We have yet to have our country destroyed due to foreign war.

are you really comparing the F117 to a F22 ?
You really don't understand much about different aircraft do you ?
sure why not its suppose to be stealth isn't it ???
ask your self how come if the F35 you know the biggest military scam of the decade is not being use right this very minute in Syria its invisible So USA should be dropping bombs with it but apparently NOT lol
They shouldn't have to be worried at all about the air defense Russia has carpeted completely protecting Syria's air space ???
Yet NO US planes in the sky
You sir have been brain washed into thinking that its invisible when i posted a 60 min review of it from buiilders that state its not STEALTH And that stealth is the biggest HOAX of all times

I know first hand how valuable stealth is. You are comparing a 4th generation aircraft to a 5th generation aircraft. Different technology. No brain washing here my friend. My info comes from being there done that. The F35 is not being used because it is still has not been officially commissioned as of yet. It is still in testing. You bringing that bird up lets me know how much of nothing you know.
Are you really saying that we now are not going to bomb in Syria due to the s400 ? You obviously don't understand the ebb and flow of war. At times you don't fly sorties in order to assess damage and targets. Do you want to bet that we start bombing again soon ?
