these colas are about 10-12" above the screen in a 4ft x 4ft room under a 600w hps, don't know whats wrong with 12" colas, you don't get 2- 3ft colas under a 600w hps
Everybody grows "space dependent". I need to walk plants out of the room 8 feet over to a double wash tub in the adjacent room for watering cycles and servicing. When they go back into the room, they are rotated and are not in the same orientation as when they left. I can't be tied to strings, a screen, or anything else without MAJOR changes to the room. If I am going to spend money like that, I'd rather spend it on light upgrades or new bulbs.
I like (actually need) to have each potted plant independent of the others, you can do what you want...
And, in the end, it's what you get in the end...not how you grow in the beginning. There a certain easy techniques when you first start seeds that if you follow them, you'll get them going quicker. But it's a hearty weed no matter what you do...
I get as much as anybody who has similar lights, and internodal spacing is overrated anyway. You can control that with early light spacing (close), hormones before switching the lights, and other tricks you learn over the years without having everything joined together by a screen or strings.
A lot of these modern techniques with special names we were doing outside 40 years ago. If a plant was getting too tall, we'd tie on to the top and anchor it into the ground, grow it like an arch. We called it 'keeping it out of sight as much as possible'.
And that's not to say your screen set up doesn't look awesome, it's just not for me. I like keeping it simple with independent plants in independent pots.
