Mars hydro

just wondering if anyone has had good luck with the Mars hydro warranty. Well after purchasing a 900 model 7 LEDs and 2 fans stopped working. I was in contact with somebody there ( they answered 1 email) and was told I can't return the unit because exactly this( I use and can't return lite used an we can't take it back because we make very little profit). To me I don't think they honor any warranty that's not being demo on a channel or grow show. To me that's bad buisness. The only answer I received from them I was told I would be sent replacement parts. That was almost 3 months ago. I don't think I would purchase from them again. Any one get parts or unit fixed?

I ordered a somewhat expensive light fixture from a shady company in the past and it was a similar story, basically, you are on your own to fix it. Fans are easy to replace. Problem with mine was dead diodes and I had to bypass them.... not a big deal but annoying.

I didn't want to open it because the warranty. But now that I see that Mars don't give a crap screw them and their warranty. I'll just mod the shit out of it and make it better. The best part is this shitty company moderates this site. So now I'm gonna launch my channel with their customer modified lighting.

I only seem to hear good stuff about MARS and similar-quality brands from people sponsored by them

The really serious LED growers are using DIY setups, but for flexibility, modification, parts availability and reliability, HID is still hard to beat.

Yea that's why I went with Mars. I'm sorry they act this way. For me fixing the light wasn't a big deal but in order for the so called warranty to be valid the consumer can't open or have opened up the case. They have to give you the parts and the permission to work on the light. I'm kinda bummed out because I really want one of the pro series but now I don't know. And as for HID I have that set up also but it's way to much heat for my space. I have had both and I think the led is better for me.

Thanks for that link madinin I looked at some of the pics and got some great ideas now. Don't get me wrong. The Mars 900 produces great results but after 4 months I expect things to still work like they should. But I see that my mod ideas are practical and feasible. Great link. Thanks again man.

Mars uses cheap Epistar LEDs and I'm sure also cheap drivers. That's probably why they burn out so much, bad drivers. I would look for a better driver, like a Meanwell, then the rest of them might not burn out. They may also use crappy heatsinks, I don't know. They also include IR LEDs, which are useless for plants and only produce heat.

Mars Hydro doesn't moderate this site, but they do have an official thread here. Believe me, there is no small amount of dislike for them around these parts. That said, since my lights still work fine, I can't personally complain. However, I do disrespect that sort of shady business practice. Mod that bitch, take out the glass (and don't spray the unit with water, derp) get good computer fans to replace the existing garbage, it will be quieter, cooler and have better output.

Thanks hunter z that's where I'm at. Just sucks that it's the red LEDs that are out. It's bright, powerfully blinding not too noisy. It does stack heat in a closed environment. I'm gonna reverse the airflow of the fans I think its better to pull cool air in from the sides and send the heat up and away from the canopy. I was thinking of running it with the case off with out the glass. Has anyone done this?
