Can you brew beer or other alcohol at home, grow tobacco?
Can you buy booze or tobacco and take it home?

Trudeau is talking about a regulatory system where if you're caught selling to minors there will be increased penalties. If you're caught bootlegging there will be increased penalties. Look at cigs, if you get caught bootlegging you get charged and have to pay a manditory fine through the tax act and a potential jail term.

Will anyone put up a valid argument to those points, tell us what the mj system would be and why it would be any different than the currently established system in place for booze and tobacco, and actually back up your statements?

I see what you're saying, but how could they even lay charges in the first place unless you were found growing large amounts for the purpose of bootlegging which you would also have to be caught doing.

Aside from bootlegging and supplying product to minors there really isn't much they can charge anyone with by simply growing a legal plant.

Licenses will only be required by those who want to be commercial or med growers and sell their products to the public.

The only reason people need licenses now is because they're growing a plant that remains illegal to the general public but have been allowed to do so for med purposes. The current system allows the tracking and data collection of both med patients and suppliers. They need to know who's growing and how many people are medicating as well as making sure the products are safe from the lp side.

none of that changes the legality of producing a legal plant for the purpose of personal consumption.

When the plant becomes legal, the plant is then legal to grow, possess and consume. Does anyone really think cops would be raiding homes over a legal plant nevermind charging them, will the cops send in the troops over something that is legal to do?
Exactly like growing tobacco or brewing beer.

The current system for booze and smokes sure looks like the system proposed in the third as well as the final paragraph.

Beer is legal to posses, purchase and produce. Sales are illegal unless licensed
Tobacco is legal to posses, purchase and produce. Sales are illegal unless licensed
All of which is only legal to adults for purchase, consumption and possession and production.

So under Canadian law and the fact that those other controlled substances are legal to produce, why would mj be any different?
