My point is why buy any led light that puts out the same par per watt for 4x the price of a UL ETL what ever else listed digital 400 HPS? Oh and by the way yes my lights will be ETL listed. It takes time to get certified. UL will be next. Ok you got us all sk took a stadium light and slapped a sticker on it and said ta da revolutionary grow light lol.
 
Hell maybe I should give up on the whole offer people something that will actually perform and just get a Chinese high bay and slap a sticker on it myself. There is one that has high bin xml 2 for under 600. I'll call it my super de duper water proof 10 grams per watt magic light lol. It's a gymnasium light thats it. Not a grow light never gonna be not intended to be. Most of the reason led is better is because of the even spread which sk is horrible at period. I wouldn't send my customers out the door with a 1200+ dollar sk light because when they get there first run done they wouldn't be back. ..........

So if SK put their chip package onto a square board and used a square reflector this would probably be a knockout combo :hump:

Ok I concede. I'm going to lie to everyone if they ask should they buy an sk. It's a light for a gym end of story. Never going to be a purpose built grow light. It completely misses 1/2 the advantage of using led. SPREAD.

Not sure which growers house review you were looking at, but this is the growers house review that I found using pretty standard equipment.

This test was done @ 24".

Also those reflectors are clearly only covering a 3x3. Neat design though. Similar to the LEC and AC/DE BOSS.

There are a couple of reviews from ICMAG members and they were not super thrilled. Kept mentioning this spot light footprint in their canopy.
 
All I know is that people are getting mad results and posting them on youtube with the spectrum king. I comes with your choice of a 60 degree, (think trees), a 90 or a 120 degree reflector. The videos I saw made me drool.It is full spectrum so the light penetration is deep. Remo is growing a plant about 10' tall under one and it has colas everywhere. DrJ is also getting mad results and has bought 3 so far. He has multiple grows and used to run around 13000 watts. Not any more, as he's mentioned eventually replacing all of his lights with spectrum kings. The dude is not a newby.
 
Still, you can build your own led panels with todays top of the line materials and repair and/or upgrade on your own. You only purchase the heat sinks once. This is a no brainer for a do it yourselfer like me. No real savings on the original purchase but in the long run, you're free to modify or repair. Also, if a cob fails, you're still in it. This might be a good argument for individual power supplies. So a question. Is this what is recommended? Individual drivers?

My point exactly just like spotlight footprint of a SK high bay light. Well sunlight supply actually has an air cooled vertical fixture that is actually better.

Yes I know they where catching fire...... UL listed to. Funny how these Chinese factories take short cuts after getting certified. So seems to make the whole UL ETL argument moot to me. They didn't put the heat shield on the lamp cord that was in the design. They stopped to save .57 a reflector.

Might want be clear about your sarcasm. Some lesser intelligent folks will literally think you're serious. Wouldn't be hard for an SK cronie to believe 1+1=12.

When Heliospectra charges a premium for their lights it's because they have expertise and knowledge in the horticultural sciences. When PLC charges what they do for a COB based panel you know you're getting some real world practical experience that was used to design and build that light. What do you get with SK? Sales pitches, arrogance and while they are backed by a company that knows lighting it doesn't mean they know how to grow weed. Even their latest creation is a mystery. Nice choice of LEDs but are they properly matched up? Do the XP reds accentuate the grow or are they wasted? MKR's are very energetic and you may have to hang that light so far away from your plant the reds may not be contributing to the grow. Do you think SK thought about this or just built something cause they got a good deal on LEDs from their parent company? I'm excited to see the new SK in action but again it's a warehouse light, and while history has taught us warehouse lights can grow weed, does SK have the right to charge so much money for a product that they probably have no more knowledge about then many folks on this website? I say no and if they lowered their prices, then they might be onto something.

Also many of these people here are united to keep LED salespeople from taking advantage of them and others. SK came in with a know-it-all attitude and bunch of bullshit. Not a good way to introduce yourself to folks around here. Especially the one's who know what they are talking about. Like captainmorgan,
