So my grow store received the new Spectrum King SK400+ today. Just wanted to clear up any misconceptions or misinformation about this product.
This will probably break some hearts... So first off, the SK does
NOT use Cree XB-D's and as far as I can tell does not use Cree XM-L2 either (possibly Easy White). From what I can tell and by looking up Cree's Chips one by one, they "appear" to in fact be Cree MK-R chips. Now for those of you who don't know, Cree MK-R chips are capable of up to 200 Lumens per Watt. Also there is an assortment of what looks like Red/Deep Red/Far Red individual dies.
You can see in the picture the circuit board says "Spectrum King by Brightlight LED."
I will take some PAR readings at ranging distances in our 4x4 tent over the next few days and post the results.
Some observations that I have noticed is that the SK seems much visibly brighter than the Sun Systems 315 LEC that we previously had in the tent. I will take some PAR readings from the LEC as well to try to give a good comparison of approximate wattage.
