Glenn Price, the owner of a medical marijuana dispensary on Main Street, has been arrested, along with his wife and a patient who was using the dispensary.

The trio were arrested Tuesday morning, according to a staff member at Your Medical Cannabis Headquarters.

William Bell, the caretaker for the business, cleaning a bong when police came in.

He said as Price was ushered to the back room and arrested he asked Bell to get in touch with the media.

Officers told Bell if he returned he could get in trouble, but they didn't say for what.

At the time Price was arrested, three patients and two staff members, including Bell, were in the shop.

According to a female staff member, Price's wife and a customer were also arrested in Monday's raid.

In mid-July, shortly after opening the dispensary, Price was warned by Winnipeg police to stop selling cannabis.

Officers cited pressure from Health Canada to crack down on marijuana dispensaries – which are illegal in Canada.

Price agreed to close the store for several days at the time, but he said he would fight the matter in court if he was arrested.

"It's not going to stop me. They can arrest me, I'll get out, we'll set down some ground rules on what I'm going to do next, and I'll be back," he told CBC News at the time.

On Tuesday, officers confirmed they were investigating at the location but would not confirm any arrests.

Medical marijuana dispensaries are becoming a big issue for some Canadian municipalities and are putting local governments at odds with federal legislation.

Currently there are more than 100 dispensaries in Vancouver, where their city council voted just two weeks ago to regulate the businesses.

Canada's Health Minister Rona Ambrose wasn't impressed with the move.

"Storefronts selling marijuana are illegal and under this Conservative government will remain illegal. We expect the police to enforce the law," Ambrose said at the time.

Bill VanderGraaf disagrees. He's angry the shop was raided on Monday.

"It's none of the police's business what people are smoking," he said.

According to Bell, Price was expected to "get busted" any day because "all [of the] shops in Vancouver went through that too."

Bell, the dispensary's caretaker, has a traumatic brain injury and a prescription for marijuana.

"I think it's BS, to put it politely because we need the medical marijuana for pain and everything else," said Bell.

Saw that coming.

Had one of the patients arrested too, so much for being out to help people and not helping himself. That smoke in he had arranged at fuzz central was a bone head move and now every customer of that shop is at risk.

There will be more fall out from this for sure. Harpco's tough on crime agenda will guarantee a swift and harsh crackdown through the election as he panders to his base and tries to manipulate voters away from the libs and ndp who have different ideas about mj.

Main St.?
Talk about keeping it low key lol.
It was used as a vape lounge before it was a dispensary. And was never shut down. The property owner is ok with what's going on. Glen didn't lie about his intent or anything. Even though they had a very limited selection it's a total fucking shame that we winnipeg area can't have a storefront dispensary.

Not only on main, but north end main. The N end wpg has a notoriety attached to it for very good reason. Plenty of good people in wpg and in the N end but it still gets its name for good reason.

He might as well of opened up the shop beside the cop shop or at the circle in Osborne village.

The truth about winnipegs north end is its the rough part of town. But if you mind your business amd don't look like a easy target you're fine. Even at 3am. Just don't walk around with a case of beer naw what I mean. I've been to and stayed in the low track in many Canadian city's. Was never truly afraid. Bad things can happen anywhere. I've only ever been straight up robbed in so called "nice suburb" once before. Jane and finch or east Hastings both look way more intimidating then the north end Main Street strip.

There's lots on that ship of main so it's possible but I do put remember that specific location being one but I could be wrong on that. It was last used as winnipegs first vapor lounge for about a year before the dispensary opened.

Not sure if your from wpg or just know our reputation. But when you cross over the slaw ribchuk bridge there's a. Building that's impossible to miss. The roof has been painted with the words "north end people before profit" most who live here see the north end as a blight but the residents of the area are proud winnipegers and proud to call the north end home.

Lived in wpg for a few years, everywhere from tux to N end. I agree with how you described the North. It's a mind your business and quit being a pussy type of place. I've never had a problem in any of the North or core aside from graham ave taking a bus.

Not to say I haven't seen a bunch while stomping around a bit and scoring some prime bags.

Imo the owner tossed his customers under the pumpkin, now the fuzz has all of their client lists and financials, all because he wanted to stir it up to benefit himself and his shop.

Location was surprising to me, could've parked it down in St vital somewhere and kept lower key.

It was a total cash business but he did take a photocopy of your medical document each time I went in(twice wasn't impressed with selection). I live in st vital currently and a storefront wouldn't fly here either. What needs to open is a club in a large apt building where daytime in and out traffic would be hard to monitor. Email your id and docs before you get the address. Call before you show up. Kind of how the dispensarys in Toronto operate. That would work. It's just being out there where the general public can see is the issue.

Giver hell Glenn Price, keep fighting the good fight brotha.
I respect the hell out of him for not quiting when the wps told him to close. The police here don't have a good grasp on any segment of crime. They really need to stay the fuck away from medical patients who really have nothing left to loose but life it self. There's way bigger social issues that need to be dealt with. One block north from the dispensary you can rent a 13 yr old or buy crack. Wps leave the sick people who use marijuana alone or shit will hit the fan.
