harvesting later tonight! drying/curing questions, bud shots, and other stuff!

Its day 63 since 12/12 and im being forced to cut today due to not heing around and what not. Anyways, according to the reading ive done i should be at least in the harvest window. Almost all hairs red, trichs are mostly milky with a tiny hint of amber and it looks like it beefed up quite a bit since last week. So basically what im wondering is how should i go about drying? With lights off and a/c & exhaust fan and 2 mini fans inside running humidity varies from 55%-77%. Im not sure if i wet trimmed everything down to the buds if it will slow dry a week since the humidity is so high. Im nervous that will lose the taste and smell though. Basically im completely lost on what to do once i cut her down and im trying to put together some sort of guidline to get the best out of my buds.

I'm only on my 5th grow and have tried different methods almost every time. I also live in a high humidity area. What worked for me this last time was cutting down the whole plant and hang in dark, climate controlled room after cutting big fan leaves off. The next day or two is when I manicure them all, but keep the stems on the medium to big buds. In my opinion it's so much easier to manicure wet than dry. The smaller buds go into a plastic tub with a hygrometer first because they are drying quicker. Big buds hang until they dry out enough to join the smaller ones. Once humidity has stabilized in the mid 60's, I put them in mason jars and burp them periodically.

You want air flow, but def not a fan pointed at them. It's a game of slowly wicking out the moisture without turning your bud into a crispy mess.

They should continue to metabolize after you harvest. You're definitely in the harvest window but could go a few more days if you want. Did you try the 72 hour dark period? There is no evidence that it helps, but it certainly won't hurt. It will also help you string your plants out a little while longer. Waiting is always better but also the biggest paint in the ass.

Another 10 days would do you perfect (maybe for next time if your not forced to chop). Job well done, those look like some Really Nice Dank!!!!!!

Believe me man ive been saying it for the past week "if only i had a least 7 more days" lol. The strain is strawberry blue and it has the most beautiful sugary berry smell to it. What i gathered from this is i should remove fan leaves>cut whole plant and hang it as a whole>day 3 il snip all leaf tips maybe have the leaves>day 7 il do a final manicure&throw them in the jar with a hygrometer and burp until its stable at 65%>let cure for a month. If i follow this schedule i shouldnt lose any smell of taste right?

I really appreciate that man! This is my first grow and im super pumped on how it came out. Gonna attempt to mix my own organic soil for my next run when i get back to town. Fox farms soil and nutes gave me alot of problems with trying to keep ph in check. Also this will be the last grow that i have a deadline for til next summer. I thought i had planned everything out months ago when i planted it but i was 10 days off i guess haha

Yes, I feel thats the best way to go about it. Pull off fans and hang dry your plant, Then when you almost to the dry point (yet still a fuzzy wet) dry trim. Then start the jar process.

I go lights off for 24 hours. Thats just me, may even be bull shit. Just something i read many years ago.

I leave the 11th so if i chop before lights on tonight i will have 7 days to dry and the morning of the 11th i can put em in jars and burp them as needed while im on vacation. Lifes been alot less sketchy now that the grow is legal. Will ne upgrading to a much larger tent or might build a greenhouse next summer and take a shot at outdoors! All of the RIU community has been so helpful throughout this grow! Thanks everyone (~);} il put up pics of how i have my tent srt up for drying and see if i need to tweak anything

I dropped a 30watt cfl outside of my grow tent but in the same room as it. I just harvested 5 min before this happened. The plants still hanging in the tent right now. Did i ruin everything??? Somebody please reply quick im freaking out :(

I wouldn't worry, i've had one shatter on the side of my body before. Also it's the mercury to worry about, they put mercury in vaccines, the cavity fillers in your mouth and ect...
As long as its cleaned up you should be fine.
Smoke up!

PS: Beautiful plants! I actually have to harvest early as well, mine look at a similiar stage as yours.
Right on! Always nice to hear relaxing news. What strain are u growin?? Got any pics??

That is def hella nice espesh for a CFL grow. Nice. I usually bug out worrying about mold. I hang in a dark closet or have set in a cardboard box top with a fan gently blowing. How long is completely dependent on your environment. Jar when the outside is dry to work the moisture out of the middle. Give it some cure for a couple of weeks and add a Bobeda. Prob not the best technique but, I don't get mold.

Thanks man!! I honestly didnt expect such a good turnout. She gave me ALOT of problems in early veg and late flower. And i have 2 booster fans connected as my exhaust and one little fan blowing air at a wall to add some circulation so hopefully mold wont be a problem.

Those look nice, shame you can't wait an extra few days.

between 65 and 75 degrees for air temp

humidity from 45% to 55%

65F will mean slow drying, 75F means a little faster drying.

That link also has other good responses on methods. I would try for 50% humidity. Mold doesn't like anything below 70. Does it still have a possibility of forming? Yes. Is it lower then above 70? Hell yeah. 55% is nice for a slow dry.
