You guys ever see the movie Tomorrowland? In the movie, one of the actresses is in class and all of her teachers are preaching how the world is collapsing and it's so awful. She eagerly raises her hand multiple times, only to be vocally shunned or ignored. Eventually she gets the opportunity to ask a professor about what their solution was; he had no answer.

What's your solutions to getting us the ideal world, fellas?

i don't know, paying workers enough so that they don't have to stand in line for food stanps after a 40 hour week seems like a good start.

No, I'm not saying anything about the employee themselves. That has nothing to do with it. I'm saying people are expecting something that's not in the agreement. McDonald's never told any employees that they'd be able to afford certain things by working there. They told them what their wage was, and the employee argreed. End of situation. What the forces of the world around this agreement are don't matter because all that does is the agreement between the employee and the employer. Family member died? Car troubles? So be it. McDonald's can give them a raise or a little cash or whatever to help, if they like to do that kind of thing which I would, or they ignore it. Whatever. It's a job and a job has always been a way to earn money. What that money can get you will always change.

You're not seeing the macro economic implications of what you're saying. Unfortunately, until you do, I can't really have an intelligent conversation with you about it.

The consequences of the differing policies, WRIT LARGE ACROSS SOCIETY, will indeed lead to the very changes you doubt.

That's just a personal opinion, that has nothing to do with the fact that the US budget every year has this defacto-standard provision built in...

So here's the skinny from behind the curtain, brother- because I have multiple family members who spent their careers in the State Department and we've discussed How Things Work at some length, I actually have a much better than passing understanding of the process and its, ahem, 'flaws.'

The truth is that we steal from the world through the world bank and then destabilize countries so we can profit from selling weapons.

That just doesn't sound like 'good world cop' to me.

And that just one scam of hundreds we support or directly perpetuate around the world.

That rabbit hole is pretty nasty...

That's not at all what I said, don't put words in my mouth. I don't agree at all with mistreating employees. Do you seriously think the new guy at mcdonalds should start rocking $15/hr? What about the entry level admin who has been making $15/hr and went through a year of training there to get where she is? Does she suddenly get a raise because daisy the zit faced, greasy burger flipper did?

Just confused- did all ya'll grow up wishing and hoping to be a mcdonalds employee? You know when you played that game and one wanted to be an astronaut and one wanted to be a doctor, a pro football player, etc? Did you assume that McDonalds would solve all your questions and that would be all you needed?
