How much are you worth per hour?

This is a half rant/ half search for opinions. It always astonishes me when people who sit behind a computer desk all day and charge $120/hr, bitch when I hand them a bill at $75/hr for back breaking physical labor. I can't fathom how they think my time is worth that much less than theirs with that much more physicality involved and probably the same amount of cognitive thinking. A guy is coming in to pay his bill today and I just know he's going to bitch. Ugh. So those of you that provide services, what do you guys charge per hour? Do you see this white collar phenomenon too?

I do see the "lower" segments of society being subjected to bartering by assholes who have plenty of money. It amazes me that people will throw an extra buck in a Starbucks tip jar and offer a friend of mine 25% of the already 50%-off price for a stack of records at my friends store even though he is closing it due to a fatal illness. I got pissed at one a few weeks back and ruined the sale.

The guy was taking advantage of a going out of business sale already and then he offers $5 for three inches of vinyl. $5! So I asked him if he gets off taking advantage of other people's misfortune and he basically replied yes. So I told him that I could not imagine the darkness in his soul that made him feel good about something like that.

Yeah Neo, as the per capita slice-of-the-pie shrinks, greed ratchets up. People start to claw at each other. The lower ends of the economy are taking the brunt of the pressure as the upper ends get grabbier. Society has gotten mean-spirited.

How can you claim it's a "white collar phenomenon" when you charge $75/hr? Let's be realistic here. Every provider of services wants to value his expertise at a higher rate than the purchaser.

Actually, you are allowing your contempt for blue collar workers to show through here. I have seen Neo's work and it requires a really high level of expertise. Not to mention what I imagine to be a pretty sizable capital investment. And yet he is still properly considered blue collar because he works with his hands and tools and such. The fact that he charges $75/hour has nothing to do with the color of his collar as you are suggesting. Seems to me that you just reinforced the societal concept of "superiority" for white collar and disrespect for blue while simultaneously calling Neo out for having the balls to charge $75. I realize that you (@Red1966 ) probably live in a trailer park and that that no longer seems to stop many poor and gullible people from supporting laws that overwhelmingly support the rights of wealthy - but it still makes me laugh.

Yah.

I've recently switched from physical labour and dirty dishes to being a bidness jerk. So what was once a blue collar is now whiter than the walls in a Bukakke movie.

I'm too expensive to have time to answer this question....hahaha

People are dicks. For some strange reason, people always try to put themselves above other people. To stand up on their high horse and look down their noses at, whoever they can.

I'm not an asshole, I don't think I'm better than anyone else because of my job or their job.

But, I am cheap. And paying anyone 100 bucks for an hour better come with a sweet-ass back rub or a happy ending or SOMETHING.

You are truly a dumbass. I am a blue collar worker. I didn't say anything about the merits of white collar vs. blue collar work. I just pointed out that EVERYONE, including the OP, values his labor higher than those who purchase it. I realize you don't have the intelligence to form a cognitive response, but to accuse everyone of some sort of "ism" is just confirming your dishonesty. So you think you are better than those who live in trailer parks. So who's the bigot here?

So all you guys make 200,000 a year?

100 an hour for about 40 hours a week works out to 200,000 a year. Well done!

No idea what I'll make when I finish training and start getting commission. But I hope it's close to 100 an hour! That sounds great.

It seems like the people with the most money to spend are usually the ones who dont want to spend it and bitch when the bill comes. I dont really give hourly prices its more of a per job thing. But if i had to do math and estimate i average about $85 an hour. If my bill is too high get your old fat ass out their and build your own patio or climb and cut your own tree. Its not fun and some aspects are dangerous. I feel like im pretty reasonable with my prices.

If I work in a plant that makes parts worth $500 I make $28 an hr plus benefits. I work for an aerospace company in electronics maintenance and make $39 plus benefits, retirement, etc. Am I worth more or just in the right place at the right time? Lucky.
