Seattle is the safest city on earth.

They have this doctor, Meredith Grey and she is like the best general surgeon I know of. She is so good that she even impressed the top neural surgeon. He was married at the time but he loved her so much that be eventually left his wife for her.

They have a genome mapping program, a 3d organ printer, and one of the most progressive intern programs ever.

Not to mention all the doctors look like sears catalog models.

I realizes it was going to happen an episode prior. Foreshadowing was pretty obvious.

All the sudden, while macking on another woman (slobslobslob) he's like, hmmm, I think I love my wife.

Then he rushes dramatically back home to immediately chnge all his douchebag ways of always putting merideth second.

He said he was gonna take a plane and he would be right back. APLANE.

Plus the episode before that Meredith realized how much better of a person she was with out Derek. Better surgeon, better friend and mother...

She was like, I don't need you Derek, but I want to be with you.

Huge foreshadow there. They were basically showing us the show would be alright and meredith would be alright without Derek.
