So would it matter to you if one person had 99.9999999999% of the wealth and everybody else shared the rest?

I'm talking if that one person somehow devised a completely legal way to garner all the wealth, and all but that one person lived on less than $.02 a day... if everything was 100% legal, would you say that's OK or not? Why?
If everyone lived on less than $0.02 a day, the average house would cost about twice the average yearly wage, or $4.40. If that "one person" held all that wealth, then it is effectively removed from the economy.

Raise min wage ?? and fall more into debt , that make sense ???? With over 76 percent of Americans living pay check to pay check already.
You think by giving them a raise is going to better it ?? like fuck it will ..
Maybe they should teach banking skills in elementary and keep driving it into there heads through out there school years well again up to grade 7 - 8 where most Americans reading level is lol.

Hourly compensation should roughly match productivity like it did during the golden age of capitalism and everyone prospered
Interesting so if that was implemented today what would happen ??? lets look here what does USA make ?? other then trouble. i know NOTHING so then that should equate to paid nothing
Here
Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....

OMG!! there are so many things going on here i don't know which to address first..

mcd's already is aware (as is wal-mart) that they can shift the tax burden on to the taxpayer (us).

by paying low wages we (peasants) subsidize the poor, publicly traded corporation aka means of production. they know this.

the greeter is not always elderly. kynes was a greeter.

walmart banks on those who are either already holding down another job or SS.

you get a meager discount in order the EE reinvests right back into the company for goods that cost the company nothing.

the living wage you refer is still the combination of two incomes.

why is someone on SS unable to live without working another job? the SS that i've already contributed to?

could it be they were lazy during their life and didn't rack up enough contribution?

walmart is being subsidized as is mcd. they bank on this and with all of the above, their EE's are basically free labor.

payroll is THE biggest expense a business has..but not if you are ripping everyone off.

not trying to be snobby..but unless you are working corporate..your educational caliber is a bit lower and they bank on just that!

what an insult to have suggested, by these employers, 'how to apply for food stamps'..'how to budget'(yet you need two full time jobs).
It is the employees and socialists like you that are shifting the burden, not the employers.
Kynes also has other income.
I know several Walmart employees who have neither a second job nor SS.
Claiming Walmart gets its goods for nothing is both foolish and dishonest.
But they still manage to live on it.
SS was never intended to be a sole income, if it was, you would have to pay more into it. Just because you contributed doesn't mean you contributed enough.
You promote subsidizing "the poor" continuously, yet somehow when people accept that subsidy, it's Walmart's fault?
Are you seriously claiming Walmart and McD's pay nothing? Why, yes, you are,.
Payroll is the biggest expense only in a very few businesses. Remember when you worked at selling cars? Was your comission more than what the employer paid for the car? No? Even your own short working career belies your statements.

So, with most of our manufacturing now gone, just what DOES America make? Trouble, mostly. With 4% of the world's population and 18% of the economy, we have 50% of all the lawyers, all looking to make a killing by looting those few industries that still call America home (like Microsoft). Kids don't want to be scientists and engineers; they've seen how little such people are valued in our country. Based on recent history, kids see the "big bucks" are in corporate law, specifically investment banking, leveraged buyouts, greenmail, junk bonds, in short what other countries describe as "trying to make money grow by shaking it side to side".

With America's ability to actually produce products that can compete on the open world market in decline, it's no wonder that the balance of trade is the problem it is. Nobody buys our export products because we just don't make that many any more, and like or not, we have to buy our appliances from the people who make them, which are NOT Americans. (When Ampex invented the VCR, they didn't even bother trying to find an American company to make it, they immediately sold the rights to Japan).

Why do you think that is?

Because it's cheaper to pay Asians than it is to pay Americans

This is a separate issue, Americans should be paid a living wage regardless of what someone in another country is paid, and corporations should face consequences for offshoring American jobs to save money on labor

What makes you think wages matched productivity? Everything you posted showed rate of increase, so all had start at the same point. Doesn't even imply they were equal. Productivity increases due to better methods, increased mechanization, etc. Employees working harder is seldom even a factor. Usually, the work gets easier. Driving a trackhoe is worlds easier than a pick and shovel.

They already do. They pay two sets of taxes.

No, Politicians should face consequences when they drive up taxes and force the issue to move or fail. After 7 years, Obama has not offered incentives to bring them back.

the aging of America's population means fewer people are working and more retirees are at home watching TV.
At the same time, women have become a larger share of America's labor force, but tend to work fewer hours than men do.
A growing informal economy may also not be captured by government surveys.
With less time spent at work, Americans boosted the portion of their day on fun activities.
Everyone here is talking about raising wages , truth is you will spend more
The government wants to control you with the scare tactic of
Terrorism and bleeding your rights away at a ever faster rate then ever seen before... what a better way to control the population by having everyone on welfare and relying on government hand outs
so with the slow decay of the middle class , its coming faster then you think . and once its gone then that is when shit hits the fan ..
If your smart get the fuck out of USA chippedamericadees1.jpg

Sure if that is the case then that gas at the pump should be raised to world costs , that loaf of bread raised milk same thing see the government is eating the difference in actual cost of the foods curious how much do you pay for gas for your car ???? or a gallon of milk how much

3.65 for a gallon of milk ??? where here in canada it would cost 7.70

Gallon of gas 3.65 in USA
for a gallon in Norway its 10.79 Euro
Canada its jumps up n down here is low to high per gallon 5.11 per

see where i am getting at the Government had been paying the cost difference to keep the food price down but the increase has started 5.7 percent increase in milk in usa since last year so slowly people are feeling the pinch
Problem is really most americans need that escalade and sport car in there drive ways them 3 80 inch TV's in there house
You got to keep up with the Jones
