6 hours on and 18 off last 2 weeks of flower????

For a couple of reasons reason one would be electric costs and the other would be to control mites late in flowering and also to keep the temperature down
well with less light photosynthesis will of-course slow down thus resulting in potentially lower yields. i don't think 6 on 18 off would hurt them but it certainly won't help in my opinion. better to stick to the tried and true.

Plant needs a 12/12 cycle in flower- this is due to the plant's needs to produce flowers : for spider mites just spray leaves with a 50/50 mix of dish soap/water apply for one week should do it - they will all slide of. Light cycles CAN influence yields and bud size/amounts. In saying that you can do as you wish - the marijuana plant will OK - is the money saved worth a smaller yield ?

i hear you but i disagree I appreciate people that try new things. There are studies out there that prove anything over 6 hrs is a waste. although I’ve never tried i would definitely like to see someone follow this all the way through. Someone else on here went for it and left the male in for to long and planted the seeds on his females but still why not try?

I agree. try everything. Learn and Grow. :c)

Where are these studies that show anything over 6 hours is a waste? I've read up on this over the years and all I've found are weed magazine/forums and a few things mentioning that some farmers have done this, but how they do it to fields of plants I have yet to figure out. If 6 hours of light was beneficial then why would 12/12 be the standard? People are not so idiotic that they would willing spend and exert more energy than necessary to produce anything. If 6 hours of lightning was all pot plants needed to yield at 100% efficiency, then we all would be flowering out with just 6 hours and would have been doing so for a very long time now.

Bagseed is always cheap and a good option to go with in these kinds of experiments. although there ar too many variables in such an experiment using bagseed you will e able to see if the plant can atleast produce under such conditions without losing a high quality plant

this actualy isnt a new idea for all the nay-sayers out there. the idea is not to increase the size of the plant but to stress the plant to get it to produce more resin at the end of the grow.

I'm not going to 6/18, but I will drop it over a few weeks (a half hour a week) to 10/14. I wouldn't normally do it, but I'm doing it in a grow that was already stressed and is taking too long to finish, and my understanding is that the added "indication of oncoming winter" through shortening the light periods, will trigger the plant to get on with the business of wrapping things up in its life-cycle. This particular grow is already damaged, so without losing anything else I just want it complete.

Of course, after starting this process -- reading about how great it works -- I've read the opposite, that giving them less light slows them down even more and can make it take longer to finish. I do not have a control group to measure against so I'll never know if it helped, hurt, or did nothing, but I went with it because it made sense to me.

I let the soil dry out fully and bring humidity down in the tent as well as cut light hours back to 6 about 4 days before to stress her to produce more resin minimal loss of yield only 2 grams difference but a lot more potent

I would highly suggest NOT doing that...
stressing a plant with mites and you'll be webbed like FAST.
Not to mention lowering humidity also makes the mites procreate faster...

there was a study that bricktop always used to post that found 12 hours produced a significant yield increase over 10 hours
i have tried 14 hours i did not notice any significant difference over 12

i knew a dude that would swear 8 hours works he could grow but he was known bullshitter and i am not brave enough to ruin plants trying it lol, hard to find much reference on photoperiods outside the norm

peace
