I don't honestly believe in free will, every conscious thought is the effect of a previous cause, reality is seen through the screen of past experience and these unconscious perspectives completely dictate how we act and react to reality. Even those who appear to have good self control only have it because their minds have been conditioned in such a way. How could the subject, the witness, possibly affect the material universe?

Let me give you an example: You drive the same car to work on the same route every day, after awhile it becomes very intuitive for you, both the road and the car, all of the signs and all of the buttons, the handling of the car, even the timing and rhythm of the drive all become ingrained in the unconscious mind, eventually you can drive to work on autopilot on a subconscious level, it is in fact the unconscious that has control of the will while the conscious is free to daydream and sing along to the radio or socialize or anything, all the while paying somewhat attention to the road and receiving real world data, which in the blink of an eye can be realized as most important and can bring the conscious mind to a halt and instinctively direct your actions, the unconscious ultimately controls everything you do.
Every action you take, including inaction, affects the universe in some way. Some say that those actions eventually come back upon you three-fold, in the respective manner that they went out. It certainly affects others around you, whether you or they are aware of it or not.

Yes I believe in karma, but I think that karma is a matter of your own conscience, you naturally cause a reaction based on your own conscience, you unconsciously know what actions will cause certain reactions, but is it truly You that takes the action in the first place. I prefer a course of non action, that way I don't have to deal with the reaction, sometimes non action can be very wise in the face of situations, all situations in fact, it is how I try to live my entire life. I am not a part of this world nor am I apart from this world, simply a witness.

This does not mean that I sit in meditation, rather it means that at all times throughout the day, I have the ability to transcend the mind and find my center, to be completely still within, when you transcend your mind you transcend your conscience and thus the karmic cycle is broken, what a relief, there is no good and bad, the Eternal Present is absolutely perfect. You can bring the mind to a stand still as well, by becoming Aware of the Space in the Present Moment, the emptiness that is all around you, the stillness without makes you still within.
