Shit got serious!.............big player entering the hort market, must be a coming trend;PHi:
I wanted to let the community on RIU know about a new product that has just been released by Osram. It is the Zelion HL line of LED Grow Lights. All are made by Osram using top bin Oslon LEDs (actual LED specs also available). We currently are the sole distributors of these new fixtures. All are IP65 and UL/ETS rated. They are dual spectra (red and blue) and cover growing areas from 1 sf to 6sf, consuming 25-150W of power and producing up to 1100 mmol/m2s of PAR @ centerpoint. I had posted regarding this product earlier in 2014 when the product was still under development and couldn't release many details at that time. Attached is a product specification sheet - a press release as well as update to Osram's website should be occurring shortly. If I can answer any questions or provide any additional product information I would be happy to.
Thank you in advance
Dan
Yea but reds and blues only?Shit got serious!.............big player entering the hort market, must be a coming trend;P
for 100watts...........lol.............way to go Osram!
A person can buy 100 watts of Cree for $100-120 at Home Depot (five PAR 38 spots or floods, or a dozen 60w equiv A19s).for 100watts...........lol.............way to go Osram!
looks like Hans has nothing to worry about
I think this is such an important point that goes unmentioned most of the time. It seems that LED lights being such expensive pieces of kit (with the potential for huge mark-ups on low quality items) have attracted/exacerbated this practice most notably and it's almost tough to blame a salesman for trying to earn a better living, but quite honestly, fuck 'em all in the ass!!!! That's one of the things this place and community is so fantastic for.http://ledgrowlightguide.com
here's somethig that makes me laugh, an "independant" grow review site that also sells the lights the lights they review on the same site ..... i dont know where to start. obviously this guy was payed or comped a panel to do a review and then the cocksucker turns around and is selling them on the same site. this is a prime example of the people that are fucking this industry up and a prime example of where you should not expect reliable honest specs and info on LED grow lights and certainly should not be buying from marketeers like this either.
It doesn't look that bad to me. He evaluates Area 51 and has an excellent conclusion, listing no "cons."obviously this guy was payed or comped a panel to do a review and then the cocksucker turns around and is selling them on the same site.
Apparently this is another Cammie McKenzie (HydroGrowLED) thing. They just posted on icmag saying this is their exclusive light.for 100watts...........lol.............way to go Osram!

Thats why DIY is will always be on the cutting edge, some can do it better them selvesHello:
I must make a point of clarification - I am not, nor in any way associated, with the author of, nor the website http://ledgrowlightguide.com. Furthermore, I have no idea who they are and this is not a HydroGrowLED situation. We are distributors of Osram specialty lighting products and this is our only Horticultural based product.
The high price is indicative of the build quality, R&D/Engineering/Tooling costs, IP65 testing, certifications from UL, ETS and other overhead you would associate with bringing a new product to market for a huge company the size of, and complexity of Osram. They are very well built fixtures using the best BIN Oslon SSL80 diodes and materials. The high efficiency (1100 mmol/m2s2 of only red and blue spectra @ 150W) and ROI over the life of the fixture, which is rated for 100k hours @L70, should also be taken into consideration. Unfortunately, all these things add up, and is reflected in the price.
I want to thank the forum for it's valuable feedback.
Best Regards
Dan
I apologize. I misread the username on the icmag post I linked to. They post under the username "HydroGrowLED." The post I linked to (your post?) is by user "LEDGROWLIGHTS." My brain was thinking HGL when I saw it.
