Yes...it works fine... orange/red balanced with deep red, you want during flowering and 2700k was preferred in the Cfl world and fluoro world because it kind of balances all of those while being weighted towards none. HPS is 2200K.
Many of the best efficient white led's are seldomly 2700k due to the manufacturing process[lower efficiency so far] or availability. You will find some flowering with everything from 3000K to yes even 6500k, but probably supplemented with some red, like Apache Tech for example or the RW series from Area51.
Some are running just 3K and 3500k alone in both veg and flower, no change. Some add a little blue in veg and little red in flower.
We are all on the edge of the frontier, still experimenting with what works. There have been some good convo's around here about what spectrum is preferred.
90% of what I described is ballpark. 10% falls to the radicals and run whatever they want
