If I knew that I would be away for up to 10 days at a time, I would go soil with a drip on a timer. Soil holds moisture, so it can be watered every 2nd or 3rd day, saving water. Hydro drinks water, so you need a large enough supply, so you are talking a drum to carry you that long. I have a recirculating drip with pebbles for 7 plants that are between 3' and 4' tall, and they drink at least 2.5 gallons a day. Hydro it not something that you can walk away from. It produces better product, but you have to stay on top of it until the plant is done. Long weekend OK, but I wouldn't stretch it much longer.
