Interesting read questioning the legitimacy of testing cannabis

Oh man, I can't wait for those who got ripped off with the MyDx to think they are actually getting a product that is accurate and consistent.

Should be any day now right? And as I suspected they pushed dates into the first quarter of 2015

What tests are both accurate and consistent? Oh yeah, none...lol.
So to that point, anyone who's tested their flowers got ripped off.

Not necessarily. Depends on who's doing the test, how qualified they are, and what type of equipment. Still don't think it's necessary to chase numbers

Both ways of testing that I know of, liquid and gas chromatography destroy the sample and can't duplicate their own results. So what type of equipment are you referring too?

Having HIGH numbers shouldn't matter, but having accurate numbers to scientifically describe the affect should.

I'm on agreement that it should be accurate. Not sure your hostility on the topic. I've used liquid chromatography, but this was probably 8 or 9 years ago. As much as I love the hard sciences, my field is in the soft science.

I can care less. Everyone experienced grower knows the difference . A sativa can test 25 % and an indica can test 12% and more than likely the knock out stone of an indica will have most people in agreement that it's stronger . As stated numbers do not matter . I would to test just out of curiosity. Who knows where people can freely pay to get their strains tested ? I'd like to test my blue dream and liberty haze . I get good reviews on all my strains and bad ones one there not up to par/potential . Who knows maybe the technology will get better soon or more consistent .

Your sample is gonna vary from plant to plant, even bud to bud on identical clones. The best way to get a real total representable sample would be to grind the entire plant down and pull your samples. You would want it to be dried, but samples can be placed in any style oven at 100 degrees C for a set # of hours or intervals. Weighed before and after to find the water and or dry content. So a sample from your stash can be extracted into a solution to use in HPLC or LCMS. Then the numbers you find can be adjusted for the water weight. The beautiful thing about liquid chromatography is that samples (cannabinoids/terpenes etc.) aren't destroyed in the analysis. Gas chromatographs are usually equipped with flame ionization detectors which as the name sounds, burns your samples into ionized forms that are then read by the detector. Would be great for butane analysis in extracts. Not exactly easy stuff to set up a proper analysis in terms of sample matrix. I'd love to see the SOP's these labs are following and some of their data. All reputable laboratories follow strict standards on instrument calibration and reproducible results with enough statistics to make you nauseous. Not doubting them, just a little knowledge thirsty. This is definitely something I'd be interested in doing if I had the time and money.
