What is so different about how you need to treat cuttings vs seeds?
I just cannot get cuttings to root. I'm using root powder, and the only thing that does happen is the formation of a lump around the bottom of the cutting.. it never grows roots.
They are in a humidity dome that is vented, sprayed a couple times or more per day, and in rapid rooters. The humidity dome stays wet 100% of the time.
I've got 6 cuttings, 3 i trimmed all the leaves off from except the main part, the other 3 I left the cuttings as they were.
Do they need to be really close to the light? I've had 100% success sprouting seeds and keeping them alive, but like 10 failed clones.
hmm, well,, don't remove the leaves.. i know it is a common practice, but all it really does is slow the plant down. this is assuming you are able to keep the humidity up. you might be able to pull off lower humidity when you trim the leaves, but in most cases it just does more harm than good. lots of people do it though.. i used to.. stopped, growth is much better.
cuttings need very little light.. like very very little. lots of light just bleaches them, stresses them, slow root growth, lowers success rate.
prbly dont need to spray them down every day, DEF not multiple times per day.. spraying them leaches the leaves, causes clorosis, slows growth, stresses, etc.. you want to spray the inside of the dome enough to keep the humidity up, but you dont want to spray the leaves nonstop, just not needed, does more harm than good, lots of people do it though.
I had great success for years.. then i started having lowered rates.. i investigated and it was just the basics (fresh air, stopped stem scarify, etc).. i just got lazy.. i improved a few little things and am back to 100% with batches of 60 cuts... that's pretty good, right?
