Lol ok so still confused and I guess it has to do with the term "ppm". Always thought that was the constant. My "ec" meter reads 1200 (as an example) and just assumed I was running 600 ppm. But the bottom line is I really dont pay much attention to my levels as much as what those levels are doing over a period of a week and adjust accordingly. I will look into what my meter actually displays but it has EC on it lol. I know that I add 50 -75ml of a+b to 130L of water each time and that seems to work.

If it reads 1200 that means it displays the uS/cm value, which is a less common way to express EC than
mS/cm, which is 1.2EC. And if you convert that to PPM for a forum post the best way is to use the more common 0.5 factor, which is what I do anyway, so yes, 600ppm. Those who have a 0.7 factor meter should mention so specifically to avoid confusion. Better would be if everyone would use EC.

Thanks for clearing that up Sativied. It still is a concept I have a hard time grasping! Probably because the only time I try I'm reading these threads and high lol. So yes I will start using EC as that seems to be the universal "can't get it wrong" standard!

I'm going to start a shark shock cbd hydro grow in August. Seems like a perfect specimen for a low ppm grow, iI'll keep yall updated. This strain already has some nute burn in some generic vermifire soil, which none of my other strains have experienced in this soil, so I think it will be a nice low ppm demonstration

Forgot about this thread. Just wanted to update that I gifted my shark shock to someone that really needed a cbd strain more than I. I'm using new nutrients now. Veg+bloom. I started new clones at .9EC and gradually raised the ec to 1.3 over 10 ddays. They were experiencing deficiencies with less. It was fine until I saw a couple plants with slight leaf curl at the tips after a week. . I then lowered the nutrients to 820 ppm on a. 7 conversion. Over the course of a couple days the ppm dropped dramatically so I raised it to 880ppm and will get back on my findings. I'm seeing that 800ppm was by far too low in my ebb n flow. I know it is nutrient brand depending though. But it looks like I'll top out in flower well above 1000ppm with the 4 strains I have going. I have a tangilope in Dwc getting 650ppm on a .5 scale as well.

Nice meter! I have quite a few of the same, so naturally my ppms are using the .7 conversion also. Been using them continuous Grocheck combo meters since they came out. My favorites

I have grown in many different setups. And 1200ppm(1.7EC) usually ends up being the perfect ppm in all the setups I've rocked. Recirculating systems will usually point to that ppm, during peak flower, from my experience, with most strains also.

I have one last tangilope going. About 5 weeks from flip. Frickin monster dude!
I just through away that strain. I WAS saving it for next seasons outdoor, but these fucking pricks around here(butte county), practically just voted away my way rite to grow outdoor. Can only grow a few plants now, so, other flavors come first. I'll try and post a pick of this last tangilope i got going, in your other thread, if I remember.

my nutrient mix (technaflora recipe for success system) chart says at 100% feeding im at 1325ppm, plus my water is 103ppm. I do a 100% feed, 50% feed, then h2o only. my plants LOVE it. if I don't give them that 50%, they begin to show signs they want more. I grow under 3x600hps, 73* temps, 40% r/h, and my plants are topping out at 6' tall in 5gal pots indoors. I also add newtons apple (at 100% feed day), and budswel @1tbsp/gal (liquid bat guano) at the 50% feed day).

been running this way for 3 flower cycles and never any issues.

Hey Aero, I hear ya about butte, JUST moved here. Luckily I do most grows inside, the limits are like 3x the numbers for outdoors, mmakes no sense! Can do 120 sqf indoor, but if you have an acre of land you can only do a 5x5 garden? I think that's what I read, measure a totally sucks. Love my grocheck meter, works awesome, my probes aren't submersible though and found out the hard way and had to by a new pH probe hope to see a pic of your tangilope man, it's such a crazy monster!! Mines like 2 weeks since being put under hid and the stalk is now the size of a sharpie, I bet it accounts for 50% of the yield from the 12 total I have going lol.

Demontrich, technaflora rocks. I used to rock the recipe for success for years! I just recently found out the thrive alive is actually bennies? I never knew that, seems like I was doing a live res a long time ago and never knew it. Great stuff though.

My nutes are formulated for use with RO water, it actually contains the calmag right in the nutrients, BUT my plants needed a little more mag and all I had on hand was calmag. So I added 100ppm of it. So between my tap water ppm and the calmag I added, that's 200ppm. So if subtracted from my total of 880 it is actually 680ppm of nutes. Hope that makes sense lol. When I checked the ppm level today, my ppm's dropped to 830 again, so I raised it back to 880, I think they are just having another random growth spurt because when I hit 920 (WITHOUT the extra calmag, I had some slight N toxicity, not really noticeable, but it was still there.)

Right on. I have pretty hard water. 300 ppm. I just use a hard water micro to combat that. I dont subtract the nutes like you do.

Yep, I try not to even post ppm anymore. I do have a ppm meter that's 0.7 calibrated, so my suggested ppm always sounded a lot higher.

1.4EC is perfect. If you have under 1EC, your plants growth is likely being stunted, regardless of age. The leaves will always look like they're wilting without the proper amount of nutrients. >1EC from day 1!

If you have it excessively high (higher than 2 EC), leaves will become brittle.

I usually don't subtract, but I felt the need to because I have a ton of extra calmag in the solution this run (I usually use bottled nutes but this grow I'm using powdered salts). It also has fulvics and silica in the powdered nutes as well, so as a one part solution, the PPM may be higher than a 3 part bottle nute formula but may still be a lower concentration of the macro nutes. But as a total solution it's at 880ppm just some extra nutrients in there making it higher than normally would be

Most of the time, people posting in the problem section for hydro are underfeeding, and are suggested to feed even less. Lower is not better when things are already perfect. It's certainly not better when you already don't have enough.

Right on churchhaze! That's what I'm realizing too. Anything under 1.2EC was being counter productive. I think 1.2-1.3 for a 2 week old plant is about perfect. I was getting problems under 1.2 so now i'm gradually raising EC because I'll be flowering in a week. But the plants are eating .1ec a day so I think my feeds are a little low again. Under 1.4 and over 1.2ec is where i'm finding the best results so far for veg

Oh, and this is with 4 different strains, each reacting the same, so it's not just a single strain, they are all getting nutes in that range and all are happy. The two in the front are the tangilope in dwc and they are getting slightly more than the others at 1.3ec ( same plants i posted above but hps is off. Hps makes everything look terrible )
