I would improve K-12 education, make it easier for lower classes of people to get secondary education, enact a 28th amendment to the constitution to get money out of politics and kick campaign finance reform into overdrive

How does this work in my hometown of Detroit with a 30% graduation rate? Throw in free college if you want even, it does nothing to affect the high school drop out situation and the fact that teen pregnancy and single parent births are along the same percentages as dropouts.

Should we place the blame on society? On republicans? Or should the dropouts maybe take some responsibility?

I'm big on personal responsibility but if you want to place blame on politicians, fine. Who has had major control of Detroit the last 50 years? How did the police budget become mostly paying legacy costs? Why aren't people paying water bills then complaining when water is shut off? Should retired city workers be soaking up more of the budget than actual workers? How can this be sustainable long term?

How on earth can you make Detroit's problems about republicans? Who was the last republican that had power in Detroit? Was the city better off then under pub rule or now that Dems have a deathlock?

Well, when politicians put the interests of businesses and lobbyists above American citizens, that's the type of shit that happens. When politicians can be bought with legal bribes, the law needs to be changed.

I would agree that the people are to blame for this because we let it happen, and continue to let it happen, and not many people are trying to change it, and many more don't think any change is necessary.

The people that are trying to change it are the pioneers history will look back on as heroes.

The only thing a poor person needs in order to get secondary education is a GED and the ability to fog a mirror. You do not need money, or a job, or the ability to think. You can be a math major that can't do arithmetic for god sake, we see that example quite often around here. Just about anyone can get secondary education, no problem. The problem comes when it is time to study and be responsible, or be a dummy and drop out with nothing but 20 years of monthly payments to show for it.
