Legalization of Marijuana - Policy Paper 2013 - Liberal Party of Canada in BC

From the invite to the Edmonton convention I got this week, look at the small print at the bottom. It references a 2012 resolution not 2013. Not sure if that is indicative but ...

Getting smart on crime and cannabis
Conservatives have failed.
Liberals know the difference between being tough on crime and being smart on crime.

Stephen Harper keeps fighting a failed war on drugs that only benefits organized crime and increases gang activity. Harper is protecting their profits while failing to deal with the negative health and social impacts of drug-related crime in communities across Canada.

We need successful policies.
The billions spent have shown little results – and now as Harper spends more of your money on mega-prisons and plans to lock up marijuana users with hardened criminals, even U.S. Republicans are warning Canadians not to adopt failed American crime policies.

Liberals stand for an evidence-based crime policy.
The Liberal Party of Canada believes in a smart on crime approach, targeting real criminals instead of our youth, to keep our communities safe. Liberals understand the need to consider ending the prohibition of marijuana and addressing the root causes of crime to see real results.

This statement is inspired by policy resolutions submitted and voted on by Party members.

Still comes down to boots on the ground. When the time comes and "they" bang on my door, they better have clear answers and impeccable references. I don't have to vote.

This is what I was trying to point out earlier.
I am not seeing a Federal Policy.
References to 2012 and Provincial and Youth initiatives are not good enough.
We want a policy on both medical and legalization of marijuana from the Federal Liberal Party. We want it to be clear and precise. We want it to sway over the conservative mind set with a vision of safety, regulation and taxation. We want it now. We want to see leadership. We want to see courage.

You have to wait for 2015 when the official party election platform will be unveiled.

We;;, there's your problem. The LPC and leadership don't really go hand in hand.

You are making this up, or someone lied to you. I'm guessing the former. It is not LPC policy, which is why they have released nothing stating it is their policy. Your initial link, as leafer points out, is to a provincial wing of the Party. I'm a long-time Liberal, but it's just not true that they have made legalization a policy yet. And it CERTAINLY was not voted on and approved in March. That's just nonsense.
You are wrong, I don't make things up. I think it's pretty nuts to think that you can just "guess" about the intentions of strangers on the internet.

Weird - a political person may have bent the truth while talking to me? I am SO SHOCKED!

Please don't call me a liar though, you don't know me.

You're a long time liberal? Well I'm a very new one.

And I'll be at the LPC(O) meeting this weekend, asking questions and trying to make a difference.

Cool, you CAN use the Internet properly. Maybe stop hijacking my threads then with what ever you feel you need to express at the time. Please and thanks.
Wow - JUSt saw this. I was unaware of any hijacking but I apologize that I clearly made you so upset. That was not my intention.

I will still continue to express whatever I feel at any given time, but I'll just make sure I don't do it in threads that you start.

If it really bothers you that much, the sweet bliss of internet blindness is only a click away.

And my first comment was directed solely at one person who likes to let their ADD get the best of them and post whatever pops in their head, no matter what the thread is about. Don't like it when it happens in your thread....don't do it on others....constantly...with false information to boot.
Also - and I think this is important - why didn't you just send me a message when I was "speaking out of turn" on your thread? I respond a LOT better to kindness and honesty, than I do to hostility and insults.

Actually, EVERYONE does. Maybe try it sometime....your life might get easier...

So the meeting is tomorrow, and goes all weekend!

I've already told everyone that has called or e-mailed me because they want my vote, that I am particularly interested and concerned with how they plan on dealing with the issue of Legalization of Marijuana.

It will be easier in person, I think. I am going to ask everyone I can.

I want to know EXACTLY what they plan, and I want to see that plan.

I also want to know how they are planning on addressing this issue in their campaign over the next year.

I am going full-on one track mind when it comes to the meeting. MMJ, all the way!

Actually I see that you may have went about this all wrong, you should have went in with the attitude that your against MJ.
The reason being people tend to hide there real intentions until a like minded person shows up. Because if you talk to certain people and say your with this great thing..... and they are not with it.... some people will just play into what your with just so they can go behind your back to expose you and hamper yer efforts.
imagine going in there with ya MJ is bad... hhmmmmmm... Bad .... yep then you would see who truly is for and who is against. I still say they aint going to legalize and if the slim chance they do your probably not going to like what the rules are, well because your positivity in everything maybe you will see it as a good thing ????
LOL

Naw, I'm honest, I don't like lying. Not like I have to ACT like a politician just because I'm hanging out with them...hahaha.

I appreciate the suggestion though. Just not my way.
