Ok I can't do soil anymore. This morning I woke up and my tent was filled with gnats. They were everywhere from the new soil I purchase yesterday. Soil is starting to be a pain in the pockets also because I don't live near any grow shops or anything that sells great soil so I always have to buy online. Then I'm tired of the cooking the soil and dragging soil in and out its getting to me now. I would do Hydro or Aero but I hate how I always run into temp problems with my reservoir. To be honest I forget to switch frozen bottles out. Im really thinking about Hempy Bucket grow. I have about 8 Cubic feet of perlite . I see that HB are very light and yield more then soil. I want to do 9-3gallon hempy buckets this next grow under a 1000w in a 4x4. Any Cons I should know about Hempy bucket besides the water all the time? I feel like everybody only talked about the pros of HB grow.

Small plants grow slowly in hemp until their roots are well developed. Other than that. Hempy is pretty easy. Also, rooted perlite is very hard to reuse and not as discreet to discard as soil. 9 gallons would be the largest hemp I've heard of. I'd stay smaller, 5 gallons max.

Have you thought about a coco/perlite mix in pots? I grow trees in 5-7 gallon pots. 4-6 per 1000w. It's my goto setup these days.
I've rocked allot of different setups, but I've never done the hempy pots.

Get one or two Claber Oasis auto-drip system for your Hempy's. I've done that (pure perlite even) and they take the work completely out of it. I just adjust the water in the tank every 3-4 days if necessary.

EDIT/ADDITION: I've even been on several 9-12 day business trips and the plants were as beautiful as if I had of been home with them :D

I use coco in my hempies and still get those g'damn gnats. Even after cooking the coco. Those g'damn gnats are fuckin' ninjas man.
Interesting. Could it be the nature of the hempies? Like I said, I've never ran em. I have gotten gnats from coco that the fucking retard hydro store left outside and got wet. Other than that, no more so than in promix or rockwool. Which is USUALLY going to be from user Error lol

Do you use rapid rooters? Nothing pisses me off more, than when those bastards get into them, and fuck some of your rooting cuts. :-(

I think the little bastards just love coco, and might hone in on the reservoir hole for access to moisture.

I've been taping up that res hole after watering as part of my extermination program, and between doing that, neem, and sticky traps, it keeps the little fuckers manageable.

How do you know this?

Do you understand the environment and everything else to be giving such feedback? Can you provide advice along with pics of your grows so the OP gets some help?

Will coco draw up like peat moss. I just did peat moss and perlite mix 50/50 and that crap killed so many of my seedlings I just gave up on beans right now. That stuff stays wet to long every seedling that died when i pulled it from the medium the tap root was brown and dead.
