save those bent poles.....you might be able to make a set of short legs for your carport, would make for a nifty winter/spring light dep grow...
;-)
I have no...zero, nada knowledge what light dep is ....or why. I've read of you and Fresno doing it....but I have no idea what or why. But, it is good?

Light dep is just manipulation of the light cycle & forcing flowering when you wish. You can get 'off-season' crops this way. It's what your gonna do next spring.......:D
All it entails is covering the plants for 12hrs at night & they will flower.

Yes, I am..I am Sam, I am. :-D
There is electricity in the carport and water, too. How fortuitous I was to find Rollitup and your carport grow.

Plants put out in your carport in Fed/Mar/Apr, won't get very big & will go into flower right away because the days are short. But the days are getting longer in the spring, so to keep them in flower, you'll need to cover them fro 12hrs at night. Since the plants won't be very big, you could lower your carport to make it easier to cover at night. short legs make it a cinch....good luck

The light dep is really the thing to be doing... It's so nice. The worry about theft is pretty much non existent as nobody is expecting finishing plants this time of year ... plus hey they're covered in plastic at night lol. I may even run a winter crop with an indoor veg later this year.

I hope I can keep this as clean and tidy as you do, mwooten. :-D

I've tried a winter crop a couple of times, but the carport is not like a real greenhouse & the temps were just too cold......failed!....you'll either need a better greenhouse or wait until spring for good results..

Did you keep the shade cloth sides for this or use plastic?

Also when there is 13 hours or less sunlight days in the month you can just keep the plants in veg with supplemental lighting and when ready to flower stop supplementing.

Yeah, I was just thinking if it was completely enclosed with one of those tarps DblJJ suggested with an opening on the south side to go in and out it should stay pretty warm. Maybe get a camping heater when it gets really cold?

The low sunlight intensity will make for smaller more fluffy buds(seen an outdoor durban poison winter grow), but if you run lots of plants or huge plants than you still could make a grip of hash or medibles. Or maybe just run a seed crop.you can fully enclose it and cut part and get one of those for an entry/exit point.

There we go. You'd have to figure out how to attach the zipper tarp to the more substantial tarp.... Maybe the zipper tarp could be glued to the other tarp. I could make that work because I can sew.
