Tent filling up....transpiration and space issues

So folks, those of you that have seen my recent thread will be familiar with my setup, but for ease of reference....:

Medium: Canna Coco, 15 litre pots
Nutes: Canna coco a&b, Buddhas Tree bloom additives
Light: 600W HPS (dimmed to 400W on hot days!)
Plants:
1x Auto La Diva
1x Auto Flash Babylon
1x Photo Super Lemon Haze (ohhhhhh yeah baby)
1x Photo Blueberry (one for the missus)

The autos are mid flower, with the flowers still gaining length at the moment. I'm hoping the La Diva is 2-3 weeks off harvest, as the leaves are getting damn frosty now. Flash Babylon seems a little further behind but has got so many side colas I actually can't count them, so I have high hopes for yield, but little sign of frosting as yet.

I'm growing these four plants in a 120cm square by 2m tall tent, and space is getting to be a problem. I have LSTd, supercropped, and done what I can to keep vertical growth down, but now it's all getting too bushy and the photos are starting to obscure the auto buds!

Worse than that, I opened up the tent just now to find water on the leaves of the photos where leaves are touching, presumably from transpiration that isn't getting blown off by the two circulation fans and the extraction fan I have in there.

Now, I know the solution to this - MORE FANS, MORE AIRFLOW! But this comes at a cost, in that the grow is already generating a huge amount of noise.

So my first question to the community is this:

What tips and tricks can you give me for positioning, fixing, angling fans that will not resonate through the floor as they do if I clip them to the obvious place - the edge of the waste tray, pointing up through the canopy to blow fresh intake air upwards and outwards. Thoughts so far have included installing a block of celotex to clip fans to, or even putting a huge slab of celotex right underneath the tent. Any thoughts on this, or other ideas?

My second question is to do with the increasing space battle. My photos are just starting to show their sex now, with preflower hairs sticking out on most bud sites (yay!). This tells me the stretch is about to get going on a serious rate. I am struggling for more horizontal room, as I've already LSTd and supercropped quite a bit. I fear eventually I am going to run out of vertical space. Is there anything else I can do to try and control the growth? Would removing some lower growth which is not getting sufficient light slow the plants overall growth? If so would it have an impact on flowering time? Would removing this lower growth help with the transpiration and humidity (50-60% RH) issues? Last thing I want is mould!

My hope is that the autos will be finished before this becomes a real serious problem, and I can then utilize the horizontal space created, but this leads my to my final question, can I continue to supercrop and LST 3-4 weeks into the flowering period without detriment to the plants?

Sorry - big post with lots of questions! Thanks in advance...

50-60% RH is not really an 'issue'.

Regardless, you answered your own question and probably just need better airflow/ventilation.

Removing the lower parts, or any part, will reduce transpiration. If it's really too full, just prune some bud sites (those with the thinnest stems), or remove entire plants. Now would be a good time to do so, they will stretch even more during transition if packed closely together.

While I prefer to keep all leaves, sometimes you got to do what you got to do to work with the grow space you have. If your plants got several huge fans obstructing airflow and an abundance of healty green leaves, there's no shame in removing a few lower ones.

But again, I wish mine was always 50-60%. I got the same space, same light, RH from 45-75.

The moist on the leaves is likely also from condensation by too high and fast temp change between day and night.

If all else fails, aim more fans at your plants.

I have a 600W hps as well. I use two fans ; intake and outtake. I suspend my 400 cfm Dirt Genius DGILF6 (outtake) by rubber bungie cords and my intake 240 cfm is resting on a pillow. You can hardly hear it at all when the closet door is closed. Defoliating is often used to slow growth in bonsais but you may be too far into flower for that. Good luck. :peace:

The photos u can keep super croppin the autos dont touch em as long as u have a good even canopy the budsites will all shoot upwards and there will be more space
clone? restart?
Why would he do that he is nearly at the finish line he can just trim the shit outa em

Just giving options tto avoid sub par end results. Call me crazy but I also kill off my plants that show bad genetic traits. Crazy.

go on craigslist locally
do some homework, research on sealed grow rooms
spend some money
seal it up
throw the a/c, dehumidifier and a co2 tank you just bought in there for $250
Now play GOD
oh yeah and get the 600 watt back to 600 watts, your yield will increase tremendously

Thanks guys, some useful information there, especially sativied.

It's reassuring to hear that the RH level isnt too high. The only person I know who has grown, he grows on a commercial scale (4 kilos a crop sorta thing) and last year got bud rot on pretty much the lot. It terrifies me! Seeing the condensation on the leaves yesterday was very frightening.

Not a lot I can do about the quick and high raising of temps, as that is down to the lamp coming on.

So, some pruning to be done tonight then! The lower parts of the plants are looking pretty poor so not a lot will be lost by trimming them, I was hesitant to do so initially as there are so many conflicting reports (lollipop them! don't lollipop them! trim the fan leaves in the way! don't cut a single leaf, they are energy for the plant!)

One of my questions I didn't get an answer to, I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this please. The question about fans (circulation fans) creating too much noise:

What tips and tricks can you give me for positioning, fixing, angling fans that will not resonate through the floor as they do if I clip them to the obvious place - the edge of the waste tray, pointing up through the canopy to blow fresh intake air upwards and outwards. fuck the autos's off, if you have one with no resin that should be the first to go. autoflowers have a very limited use and i feel indoors grown alongside photo period plants just isn't it

can you really afford to keep your plants in veg another 6 weeks?! the super lemon haze will double if not triple in size when in flower

But they are sooooo close to being done! I reckon 2 weeks for the frosty one and 3-4 at most for the not so frosty one. The less frosty one is massive and has tons of bud sites, it would seem a real shame to toss it now.

And their limited use is that they will give me some smoke during the long wait for the SLH to bloom. I've recently been laid off at work and I can't afford to buy mj any more, so those autos will be a godsend.

Also, the whole tent is on 12/12 now - I know that isn't ideal for autos, but they will do what they will do. Throwing the autos out would have to be an ABSOLUTE last resort. I don't feel I am at that point just yet.

Once the autos have been harvested there will be plenty of room for the photos as I can supercrop them out into the space created.

However, my issue now is about maintaining a decent environment within the constraints I have - but also reducing the noise being produced, which is unacceptably high already and I am conscious I will need more fans very soon, if not immediately.

Leave your tent open for the hottest hours while your lights are on, should cool off 10 or so degrees while this is happening. Ive have to
Do it a lot recently because its been so hot.

I imagine this would let the smell out though, and as I have to keep the window open to keep temps down, the game would be up pretty quick :S

The fan issues a tough one - if its not vibrating through the floor, its *just* loud enough for guest to hear xD

Is a stand-up oscillating fan out of the questions? You know, one of the oldschool ones that sits at an adjustable height and turns side to side while its on? Those dont generally vibrate much, and you can turn it on low and still put out some air flow.

It would be nice, but there simply isn't room in my small tent (120cm sq and four plants bulging the thing).

I've placed the fans on blocks of kingspan which reduces the noise through the floor but it's still audible at night :S

Try a tower fan. I use a small one on the corner of my room and it moves a considerable amount of air. They have a really small footprint as well
