Hello, my "pal" is hoping to put out some purple maroc plants this season however he is unsure whether to start vegging the plants indoors and then take them out to flower as someone has warned him against it for this particular strain, if anyone who has grown PM or anything similar can give me some advice it would be extremely appreciated. As well as this how long would you recommend vegging for before transplanting them outside? FYI the vegging will take place in a diy veg box under 2 x 55w 6400k T5 CFLs, thanks for reading!

Never grown that before but I don't know why you couldn't put it outside unless maybe it is very sensitive to mold. As for vegging, the longer you can veg prior, the better because outdoors, the sky is the limit when it comes to height limitations. I live up north and I like to veg them for about 2 months then i flip to 12-12 on june 7th for 7 days and put them outside on june 14th, a week before the summer solstice. This ways I'm sure they will bud and mature before October frost.

Thank you for your response and when i say hes been advised against it i mean hes been advised against starting them indoors as they are specifically bred for outdoor use in our climate however i want to start the seedling an veg stage inside as i want them to have abit more of a chance when they are transplanted again thanks for the reply!

In my opinion, I'd start them off indoors now and plant them outside after your anticipated last frost date.. Whatever day that is where you're from, look up the amount of daylight you'll have and use that as your light schedule. For instance, I plan on transplanting outdoors in a few weeks.. so I'm on a 16/8 schedule because I don't want to chance them starting to flower when I transplant outdoors. Hope this helps a little. Good Luck!

Start em off indoors! Otherwise they'll be easy food for any animals around... Squirrels, rabbits, and plenty of other herbivorous animals absolutely love cannabis sprouts...

Love your screen name btw.. A combo of the two greatest things in the world.
Thank you all for your help! Much appreciated! And to wvblazin how comes you opt for a 16/8 light shedule would you not recommend doing a 18/6 incase it sends them into flowering stupidly early? And haha you no about that who doesnt love purple chronic ana bit of fanny!

I opt for the 16/8 schedule because that's about how much daylight they'll receive when I transplant outdoors. I'm just overly cautious I guess. You could probably get away with 18/6.

I'm on a 14/10 schedule with my purple Marocs. When I put them outside I want the light level to increase instead of staying the same. Better safe than sorry.

i used to do this.
wait till the night temps stay mid 40's to 50. then start soaking the seeds take and plant in starter plugs like root riot cubes. take a small cooler full of them and go hiking. have water and slow release ferts. see when you grow then indoors at 18/20/24 hrs light and put them out they try and flower. so you can grow them indoors for 2 weeks safely before they get close to mature.

Again thanks for all the input, would you say two weeks is as far as i should go with it?

when the plant reaches maturity and it get less light time it will go into flower mode. I with normal seeds or fem would go 2 weeks then out they go give or take 3 days. could be really rainy ect. if you doing auto you can soak the seeds let the taproot show then into cubes and go hiking asap. never transplant a auto. now outdoor auto's only for outdoors. they can handle less light hrs.

They've been vegging under a fish tank led for a couple weeks now, along with some Frisian Dews. They're about 7 inches tall and incredibly stocky. This is my first time growing them, but they seem to be pretty vigorous in terms of growth, surpassing my Frisian Dews. I'll probably start acclimating them to outside sometime this week after the rainy weather passes. I had the same concern as you did about starting them indoors after reading the growing advice on the site, but I figure if the indoor light times match or are less than when you put them outdoors it will be impossible for them to flower early.

Sounds good. One thing to keep in mind is that there is no shortage of pests outdoors. Insects will chew holes in your leaves. You may have to deal with molds and fungus, too. But the biggest problem you're likely to have is rabbits and deer. Don't underestimate them. A buddy of mine had ten 12 inch plants completely eaten in a matter of days by rabbits alone. Make sure your plot is safe.

Good shout with the frisian dews, i have opted for this as well(we gone for the safe bet lol) im debating doing a dark devil auto because they look so gorgeous i have to give them a go, how would you recommend growing them outdoor aka whether to veg them indoors if so what light cycle? And have you any experience with sweet deep grapefruit or white strawberry skunk? Want to attempt a couple exotic strains for the adventurer in me.

I've never actually grown out an auto, although I did receive one as a freebie with my last order. I feel like growing inside under an HID would be your best bet, as with autos you have limited time for growth and could have lights on them 24/7. I'm going start mine probably late may outdoors when the sun really starts to intensify and give them the best light possible.

I know its an extremely hard to answer question with all of the differing variables but seeing as you are experienced within this field ill givit a go, how much on average should i be expecting on the purple maroc and the frisian dew? Will be directly in ground aswell by the way :D thanks
