What is a bullet but a rock fired explosively? What is a rock but a stand off fist?I think doer makes a very cogent point. We can outlaw guns entirely now that we know they have been rendered obsolete by rocks. Think how much money we can all save! Think how much the military can save!! I mean, shit, we've been handicapping them with the disadvantage of inferior weapons, when they could have been throwing stones all this time and REALLY kicking some ass! Now that you mention it, my brother in law, an Army Medic who served two tours in Iraq, always talked about how the most severe injuries he treated were from rocks!!! Not bullets, no, he always said "Bullets don't hurt anyone... it's ROCKS that you need to be careful of!!!" I can't believe I didn't remember that until now!
What is nuke but a stand off rock?

I have been studying short stick lately. You know, pencil size, defense pen size, etc?Mine is grease stained hickory rod, about 5/8" x 7" with a finger loop.

A tactical pen, I take to work. But, not for the water boxes. Because they don't allow a manager to wire a shotgun under his desk, any more.
Defense pen, It is all about some easy techniques, practiced over and over. And then the sort of "hanger flying" visualization, if you know what I mean. It is so important to always be the other guy. My guy, tracks and defeat the other guy, in my mind before the current action chain, usually chain punching, is initiated. Chain punching is a set up. So, my other guy gets chain punched into the stick submission as an instant visualization, for example.
It is about awareness of position, and bonelocking, pain points, body mass, directions.
But, if you cannot be instantly vicious, no techniques can help, and you will never use a weapon.
So victim to viciousness, without the victim is the real key to self defense as I am sure you know.
What is the reaction to surprise? Nothing else can count.
