if you grow under lines its a matter of time before you get caught. My opinion, but its that or it gets jacked, people see those very often, be it curious wanders who enjoy the wide open path of the powerline gaps, or the companies themselves- there are always wonder bys .

they just mowed and trimmed around the power line poles yesterday, and my plants are GONE!!!!!!!
.....jk, they are still their and i found out that they don't even prune around the poles themselves, their is a nature walk path that runs maybe 50 feet (at the closest part) and they only mowed in that area. lucky me

meh, you'd have to be @ my spot to know how safe it actually is. I'm glad their are people out their not afraid to voice their opinions against what someone else is saying.
Bottom line is that if you HAVE to grow near or under power lines, stay away from the poles, and make sure it's not a high traffic area, OR make sure that if their is a possibly high traffic area (nature walk, park, someone's backyard), keep it in the most secluded spot away from people as possible.
I'll be sure and let you know when my "tomatoes" get pulled cut or pruned

still got plants, bout 4 feet tall each (bagseed), but they all turned out male 
, poor me, i know, but it's all my fault. I didn't check the pH of the water from the local source until week 7, laziness, i guess, cost me bud this year, but let that be a lesson to you. Don't grow pot, and smoke pot everyday, while you grow, without a WELL defined schedule.

The e-leccy companies use IR cameras to inspect power lines, IR camera detects heat, power over cable generates heat which is what they are checking.

I grew up with powerlines going through our land. My father had a vegetable garden under the lines (just off the side really).
The power company had a right of way although we owned the land under them.
Anyhow, apparently at least here they spray chemicals of some sort (defoliant?) a couple times of year. My father had to request for them not to do this on his land...
That may be why.

Forgive me if I'm way off here (first post, new to site, and not a grower...BUTTTT.........):and old man told me, not to grow under power lines, you got any ideas why?
Am I the only one to note that most [end-user] consumer lines run N and S...where I'm from, at least?
And am I wrong that this N/S-running strip of cleared land, assuming it is the normal, thin arrangement...will throw off all the "light/dark period" stuff that regulates EVERYTHING in the plants' growth/flowering/yield???
No matter your GPS coordinates or the season; no matter the amount of care taken; and least of all...no matter the power company or its employees' actions ----when the sun can only be "overhead" for <10hrs per day, shit will be outta your control.
