why wouldn't you grow under power lines?

I worked for a power supply company all my days, ---now its a routine part of all power companies duty to patrol beneath all power lines regularly to prevent small trees from growing under them and enticing kids or whatever to climb them and put their lives in danger--so that's a common sense reason not to grow under one. it is possible to get light out of a fluorescent tube if placed sufficiently close to a highvoltage power source due to the induced voltages and electromagnetic fields that exist in close proximity to such locations---way a fluorescent tube works--high voltage in end elements of tube ionises the gas inside the tube--ionised gas reacts with the white coating on inside of tube producing light----------a high induced voltage such as that produced in close proximity to very high HV eg 400KV would be enough to possible ionise the gas without the need for outside voltages eg end elements--so it is theoretically possible----Planting beneath power lines is asking for trouble IMO

Hah, yee of such small brain power. ;) Power lines are shielded, and if the shielding fails, they are grounded. i'm 98% sure that the shielding was broken when that guy "stuck flouros in the ground and they lit up", either that or it was a parlor trick.

A moving current(IE electricity in power lines), gives off an electromagnetic field, which is harmless. (which also means if the power line's weren't shielded, he could just get near the power lines, and the flouros would light up)

unless you feed your plant straight iron, you shouldn't have a problem, but at that point, you have a much bigger problem than the power lines. :blsmoke:

but my plants are awfully small :?

:peace:
It is not harmless as many linemen die over time due to the effects of the energy these lines put off such as endocrine disorders and cancer. The strength of the e.m.f to excite the particles in that tube suggest that it too is exciting your particles also. I am not a line person but I work with them and speak to them daily, most of which is beyond my comprehension . True deal high power lines can fuck up your cells over time.
