so basically my plant is living in a desert at 96 degrees. he looks pretty pitiful/droopy yet still green. would a portable air conditioner do the deed? i'm not able to ventilate my grow area. only open the door a few times a day.

Air conditioning will drop the temp. Is the grow area a shed, tent, room, or what? The plants still need a source of co2.

600 watt hps that i just turned down to 50% power and its also raised a good 2 ft right now cuz i'm trying to keep down the temps. thinkin bout maybe just buying a 2nd fan.

Venting is so very important! You cant expect a plant to grow strong with no fresh air or breeze. Let alone in 96 degrees. Can you throw a fan in there and leave the door open? A lot of circulation fans are added to not only move air around but strengthing the stems and branches. That may help a bit, but like Sand4x105 said.. if its a he you might as well rip em out and start again when you have a proper grow area.

You can put a hundred fans in there but without fresh air exchange your just blowing hot air around. You need to exaust that hot, stale air and bring in cool fresh air.

ahh this is depressing..don't rly want to kill him but putting a tent with ventilation stuff all around it in my garage seems a little sketchy. have the money for it just think its a little much. may get some cfls and try that or like u guys said, take a few steps back and start over when i have the right setup or better yet the right state to do it in.

rule of thumb for newbie start up, plan to spend as much as ventilation as you do on lights
without in/out ventilation, you will have major issues
Dr. Jekyll

your alternative is LED or CFL or T5, as they have much less heat than HID
or get a job and buy your pot

yeah doesnt sound like your equiped to do this your just wasting time and money atm unless you put forth a proper effort into the grow and spend some money and have the right space for it.

Hey NPO,

Venting is as important as lighting, as important as nutes, as important as odor control, as important as anything else. That said, on my first grow I learned as I went along, too.

Leave the closet door open with a fan blowing in and run it until the temps under the lights at about 75F. If the temperature in the room isn't cool enough to do that, then put an A/C in the window and run it until you have the desired results.

This will handle the venting issue. Now, if you're growing in a place where you can't do that (someone else's house) then you need to get rid of the plant anyway, because you won't be able to control odor. You probably wouldn't be able to do that anyway, so there seem to be several reasons why you might be saying bye-bye to this grow.

Good luck!

EDIT: Hyde's suggestion of switching to cooler lights might be the solution.

thanks for the suggestions guys. if it was legal i'd be doin it but the paranoia won't let me carry on lol cultivation carries quite the charge and i think ppl would hear the exhaust fan. i have a job and an oz sittin behind me hyde.

yeah your 1 plant will stink up your entire house without some kind of scrubbing even with the door shut. i had some cannabis in a ziplock in a tupperware container in a closet last vacation and it quickly stunk up the whole 1st floor of the condo.

I thought I could start a grow with only 130$ hos. Well I'm $700 in and just bought my last vented fan and scrubber shit is expensive to do right but no higher than the cost of the weed compared to the yield of seemingly free bud.

yeah theres alot of nickle and diming that goes along with the hobby but you can get all your money back with 1 grow plus some.
