Maybe you guys are uncovering a new way to grow. Much like we use light cycles to veg and flower. Perhaps putting plants thru a survive, then thrive phase can do a lot to improve indoor growing. Think about it. If we put a plant outdoors, it litterally has to survive. Indoors is like a fat kid sitting all day eating and watching tv. Maybe if we make that fat kid run for the first half of his life he wouldnt be fat and then when it came to thriving, he might be resistant to bed sores when thriving on that couch.

Yet this "new way" yielded the same as i would yield, except with the addition of a further fortnight of veg. Definitely sounds like the future in growing!

ok so to be fair I guess I do defoliate.....my mothers ;)

after every cloning they kinda look like the ops second pic.

Never trim the leaves off though! even on the bottom where they do not receive direct light

Haters gonna hate regardless of what u do or say. I myself would not try this technique. I'm more about keeping the girls nice and healthy instead of forcing it to grow like that, but if u have the skills to make it work...kudos to you. When I first seen the picture, I said what a dumbass, but he made it work!!

So, I ask: What methods are available to choose from if I wanted more leaves without additional branching?

It's no more scary that chopping the top of your growing tip off and watching twice as many grow back, or deliberately snapping the stem of an otherwise healthy plant! Or the snipping off a branch and putting some magic voodoo powder on the cut and it grows roots from the bottom!!

Generally most people who are against this technique have either never tried it, or have tried it and got it wrong. I've seen people that have just gone and defoliated whilst the plant is flowering then wonder why it stunts the growth and extends the flowering time.

The important thing is to get the plant used to being defoliated which you do whilst vegging, which people don't do and they fail.

The technique works well with other techniques like LST and scrogging, because of the light penetration.
I'm only on page 10 trying to catch up and I've already given out too much rep! lol :joint:

Some good reading.

People Defoliation isn't for everyone. If you don't agree thats fine but your arguments are pointless as "we" who have tried have seen the proof and thats enough for us.

If you grew your plants in shit and used piss for nutes I would not judge you and I would watch the grow with anticipation.

Be open minded and don't judge until you have tried it yourself.

BTW Nebula Haze own's growweedeasy.*om and has extensive experience with this plant and I would listen to her before I would listen to a mod who has never even tried this practice. Some people think pretty big of themselves and it just shows how ignorant they really are.
LMAO! I like the way you think! Would +rep if I could! lol!

Reading this thread reminded me that I needed to get some of those big, worthless fan leaves out of the way.... :)

Don't think there's any techniques that give you more leaves and less branches

Only way you may pull this off is to Top plant and pull the sides down and use a mh in early veg, this will give you a thick green canopy (loads of leaves)

Now that I've caught up I almost feel punked! This debate will go on and on and on and on for as long as leaves continue to grow and we continue to remove them.... or not. remove. them.... I see several brilliant minds arguing equally valid points. One thing I find strangely absent... no one discusses the necessity of sugar leaves access to light?

Or am I opening something I shouldn't....????

the larger leaves do the work I'll post this again

to the op....read this http://www.biologyreference.com/Ta-Va/Translocation.html

Translocation

Translocation is the movement of materials from leaves to other tissues throughout the plant. Plants produce carbohydrates (sugars) in their leaves by photosynthesis, but nonphotosynthetic parts of the plant also require carbohydrates and other organic and nonorganic materials. For this reason, nutrients are translocated from sources (regions of excess carbohydrates, primarily mature leaves) to sinks (regions where the carbohydrate is needed). Some important sinks are roots, flowers, fruits, stems, and developing leaves. Leaves are particularly interesting in this regard because they are sinks when they are young and become sources later, when they are about half grown.

Thanks, I did see it the first time.

Your argument makes my argument like it does theirs.

We grow. We harvest. We ingest. We laugh. We love. We sleep. We grow!
