I thought I would post up what my soil mix is comprised of for those that want to know. As you can see I keep it real simple. I have another link that shows a mix that I emulated with MG products, due to the fact its winter and finding pine bark fines is no easy task this time of year. I hope some will find this helpful....Thanks for following....J

vn yeah to start with that will do. i kinda did the same for now. i cant wiat till i get my worm farm ill keep it a my friend joe's house he has a basement perfect for europian red worms( they can handle warmer temps like 65 degrees F). then ill make all my soil. also gonna start my own compost tea going. once i get all going i would say late summer ill be using all my own soil and base nutes. this is time consuming for sure.

Just a thought, but if you've got chickens have you ever thought of composting the chicken manure and amending the soil mix with it? My understanding in that it has much better n-p-k values than cow/horse manure, especially if you know and control what your chickens are eating. Just seems a shame to let all that good poop go to waste (No pun intended... ok maybe slightly intended)

yes if you have chickens by all means make a compost pile every month so you have one you can start using in 6 months. toss in all you veg left overs and grass cuttings coffee grind egg shells. then you have a great natural mix. then you can test the strength with a plant or 2. see how much you need. im all about organic bro.

That chicken poop doesn't go to waste. I got a nice big compost pile out in back. I'll definitely be using it in the the the garden to grow some green as well as the veggies.

CONGRATS to Dale Jr. on his 2nd Daytona victory. I see a Championship in his near future....:hump:....J

Hey Ace if you look at the pics of the mix of soil I use you can see it emulates the pine bark mix in the garden web link I posted. Only difference is the MG has composted chicken litter in it. I will be making my own, but very hard to do when every damn thing is frozen lol Is it spring yet? lol....J
