My grandmother owned nothing but a car which was a gift from my Great grandmother, her application was denied until she sold the car and paid for a cab to see her medicare covered doctors. She was half blind and had no job due to her MS. So I would say that their admission requirements don't meet reality. For the record, it was an Oldsmobile standard production 4 door. It wasn't some Roll's Royce.

Honestly? No, I'd likely return in kind. Honestly, I walk in the street when there's an ambush point. That training is handy at times.

If you have a gun and get jumped by a man behind a bush, I'd bet there is a good chance you can't clear leather before your ass is unconscious and robbed.

Given the way any citizen who shoots someone and isn't convicted of murder is treated by the NRA (My family has an American Rifleman subscription for life.), I would say that if I'm average, I would not be treated as such by the prevailing gun owners of the US.

i disagree..i've "collected" 5 gallon water bottles and turned them into the store for $6/bottle when i was waiting to get approved for SNAP..enough to afford:

1. milk and protein powder 2x day
2. dollar menu burger

That wasn't an accurate statement.

It's very disheartening when despite the strong evidence showing the causation between high levels of gun ownership, lax gun laws, and EXTREMELY high murder rates, idiots like a few of the rats in this thread keep attempting to either change the subject, or somehow come up with moral grounds for shooting people in the back.

It's the epitome of a lack of common sense, or an extremely flawed attitude towards human life, and what is 'fair punishment'.

She doesn't drive, family members do, and my great grandmother did before she died. Hence why my GG left it to her sick daughter. Those that can't drive still have the need to be driven. Especially when they have a persistent autoimmune disorder. She got to wait for non-emergency ambulance transport when she was bedridden, since she had no car. You have a heart attack? Too bad, emergency services are busy driving my grandma to the hospital.

So, in your family, only your grandmother owned a vehicle? Are you from the deep south?

When my grandma needed a ride, I just picked her up in my vehicle. I think thats how most people do it.

Correlation is not causation. If it were the numbers would be MUCH HIGHER than they are.

I can guarantee that the murder rate in the USA has nothing to do with Guns and everything to do with the Drug war gone wild.

Basic hand to hand, which is more than your average joe mugger has, is plenty to return with on your average criminal; as he wants you wallet, not your life. I don't walk in the middle of the street, and if there's traffic, then there's no point in moving into the street because there's witnesses. This is really all basic tactical assessment you should do if carrying a weapon.

Nope, my aunt has never been solidly employed (Ergo, no vehicle.), my mother got MS before I turned 18 (She was single), and the rest of our family lived hour away or out of state.

Actually, Joe Mugger probabaly has 100 x the experience fighting someone than the average joe does. Mugging isn't exactly a safe career choice, and the people that take up those kinds of careers aren't generally the frail and destitute, but someone who can back up their violence.
