You can always move.I am not a slave, I am a serf... I must pay my lords their yearly tithe to live upon their lands...
But you are right, I am not free.
Where do you want to move to?
And why?

Move where?You can always move.

The difference is that a serf has more free will. I can move about where I want to, I can get married, have children, do the job I want to do.A serf is a form of a slave , serf even means slave in latin
all government, without the consent of the governed, is the very definition of slavery.

do you even history, sistah? The difference is that a serf has more free will. I can move about where I want to, I can get married, have children, do the job I want to do.
A slave typically would have none of those freedoms.
Essentially the cage is just bigger.
I just explained the difference between a slave and a serf and why I am not exactly a slave and then you attack me for comparing myself to a slave.do you even history, sistah?
do you not understand what essentially means?
i essentially don't get whipped if i take a vacation.
i essentially get to earn wages for my labor.
i essentially do not have to witness my daughter being sold away from me at age eight.
i essentially do not have to witness my wife being raped.
to compare yourself to a slave is pure ignorance and stupidity. i can not believe that someone like you even has the audacity to post around here with the shit you spew.
I am not a number, I am a free man!You are number 6. We want...information...information...information...

Serfdom is the status of peasants under feudalism, specifically relating to manorialism. It was a condition of bondage or modified slavery which developed primarily during the High Middle Ages in Europe and lasted in some countries until the mid-19th century.do you even history, sistah?

Makes a pretty solid case imo
I'd be interested in seeing someone argue the points made
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those that falsely believe they are free. Until you intelligently refute the points, I'll assume you can't.I am at a complete loss for words about this. I have to believe you are just trying to be a funny troll. There is no other possible answer.
I mean, you are fairly good at using a computer and typing complete sentences, so I know you don't have Down Syndrome.
There were too many dumb passages in that to quote.
The part about the farm animals was precious, so naive.
I imagine the person that wrote this article just took their first world history class in community college and then finished "The People's History of the United States" over Christmas break in mom and dad's house. Then it was smugly typed up on a $3,000 apple computer.
Yes you bring up a good point, nobody has addressed the points raised in the article. Of course that would require reading the article. I'll concede these kinds of posts can be tedious, but I posted it as it appears. Generally when the naysayers use a diversion, it's because they cannot refute certain points, that seems to be what happened here.
I argued this months ago. I agree that serf is a more fitting word than slave.I am not a slave, I am a serf... I must pay my lords their yearly tithe to live upon their lands...
But you are right, I am not free.
How do you define "free"?And I will admit that we cannot be completely free without Anarchy.
And that brings lack of protection, etc.
The argument always is whether we should be more or less free.
To those unfamiliar with the libertarian-anarchist world, this is probably a jarring headline. I’m not a slave, you may think, I don’t have a master. I don’t work for free. I don’t get whipped. I own property. I am free. Libertarians and anarchists take heat for using the word “slave.” It’s not a light word to throw around, either. I agree. Slavery is very serious. To clarify, though, I’m not talking about chattel slavery. Chattel slavery is a horrific blight on the human race. It’s reasonable to interpret the use of the word as crass or naive. But not being bound by chains or ropes, and living in a nice house with nice amenities, and voting, and thinking you own yourself, does not mean you are not a slave. It’s not the physical condition of slavery that makes it slavery. Slavery is the denial of self-determination.Rob, you know I address your posts, often point by point so even where I do not, there is noneed for your sort of scorn. I asked you to make the post legible for us and if you really are entertaining comments you will do so.
Thank you.
In the context of the above quote I meant free to rape, rob, murder and generally do whatever we damn well please....How do you define "free"?
