U.S. Job Growth Slows Sharply

Is it one of the big Sixes or the older flat-four style? I do like the earlier fours!

I have my Iron Butt T-shirt from taking my FLHT on a thousander. Goodness but the Harley dressers have excellent OE saddles. Can't see myself on a trike though; at that point I'll just suck it up and cage it.
What I'd like is a Road King. All the touring amenities minus the fairing, which I find tits/boar useless.
I like the Road King too, it's so much more modifiable. It can be whatever you want it to be.

Should have mentioned that my GW is a 1200 when I was talking gas mileage (4 cyl). I would imagine the new 1800's are even worse.

I admit I'm more of a rider than a biker. I can't stand working on bikes, that's why I had such an aversion to Harleys until the last decade or so. My brother and I would ride and he'd park his 78' fat boy on the cardboard in the garage to catch the leaks and tighten everything up after the ride. He loved it, it was part of the experience for him. I just want to ride. Now that he's in a newer model he takes the time used to take to tighten to wipe. If he rides it to the store he comes back and wipes everything down.

I'm pretty sure my hate for working on bikes is born from the goldwing though, just changing a fuel filter is a pain.

My first Harley was an '87 FXRS-Sp bought new. It had character, which means it needed frequent and sometimes serious work.
But it also had some endearing characteristics. That drivetrain made the coolest sounds at different rpm and throttle states. It was thoroughly entertaining at totally unremarkable speeds and accelerations.
And that was the Evo (Blockhead) motor, which I am told was just boring compared to the older Shovels.

My '03 Fathead (TC88 mill) was dead reliable, and at the same time it shed all its character. I too am more of a rider. I was a bit sad about the relative forfeiture of mechanical soul. But the bike's reliability and willingness to operate flawlessly in a startlingly wide range of conditions redeemed that minor ding tenfold. I imagine the current ones will go toe-to-toe with Hondas for bland and bulletproof performance.

I was told Harley was going to start making some liquid cooled bikes. I haven't read up on it so I can't say for sure, but I agree with you. I think Harleys are just as well built since the employee takeover back whenever. I know they don't own it anymore, but the quality has really improved.

I always like the Indian for the looks and prestige. I see they are back now but are more or a less a Polaris (Victory). I would love an old fire engine Indian Chief, but a new is a fraction of the cost. The new Indian is in the running for my next "round town" bike.

I remember the previous iteration of Indian ran itself bankrupt trying to get their 100-cubic-inch motor to market.

Harley has a fully liquid-cooled bike, the V-Rod. I wasn't a potential customer for two reasons.
1) Uncomfy "street fighter" styling.
2) 35 mpg?? Child please. A motor advance should bring improved mileage over the 50ish MPG of the Lincoln-era predecessor.

And a month ago i sat in the library and read about a partial liquid-cooling system being brought to the Ultra. Again, I'm not a customer. Added weight, and i have never had a problem with my air-cooled Twin even in desert weather. Imo it's a fix for a problem that didn't exist. And the necessary shin fairings take the bike in an aesthetic direction that isn't for me. Back when i had money, I was toying with the idea of commissioning a "Minimus" bike, the lightest-weight touring Big Twin i could envision. That ground-up custom project died with my affluence.

That's what I heard, thanks for clarifying Che

I wasn't a fan of the V-rod for the simple fact that it didn't feel or ride or sound like a Harley. I think it was a porche motor. Correct on me this if I'm wrong. But it just didn't seem like a Harley to me. Used V-rods go for a song now, they really don't hold value like the rest of the lineup.

There are so many new bikes in the line-up that I'm unfamiliar with. Have you guys seen the bomber is back? I'm still not sure if I like or not.

Vrod is a porshe design engine
Wait till you see whats coming next
And indian made harley in 500 and 750cc

As to the liquid cooled harleys they are dubbed Project Rushmore. Main issues so far is Coolant overflowing. Where does the coolant overflow to? Right under the rear wheel. That's got to be safe

oh geeze, let's all do driving burnouts....

I was holding off on a new bike but got excited about the liquid cooled. I am bad to impulse buy so I haven't been in a shop since last July. My next mission though is to find a way to make near the money I make now without leaving the house. If not, I'm being moved to Charleston SC (beautiful city, so I'll deal with it) in June and will purchase something then. Maybe a horse and carriage, I hear they are all the rage there.

Don't sweat it. The RACIST!! shouters on this site are the most bigoted, short-sighted people you will encounter. It's like a badge of honor here. You'll only get called that when you've destroyed any argument they are trying to make. It's more of an admission of defeat on their part than an actual slander.
you need to evolve from the neck up and start looking at how reality works.

according your dumbass, you are asking me the impossible. Because people do not evolve above the shoulders.
do you really think the racist label gets thrown around willey nilley? i bet you'd like to think so, but the fact is that you have to earn it first.

All you have to do to earn it from you and yours is disagree with a position, it has nothing to with race or racism. It's the same 4 or 5 people here who yell RACIST!! when they've got nothing else. It used to be bothersome to me that some random idiot on the internet thought I might be racist but now I realized after watching you post for over 2 years that it's your fall back position when you are getting destroyed in debate. It's become a badge of honor on this site to get call racist by you and Cheezy and C4. It means we've destroyed whatever idiotic stance you've presented.

Your economic position is to take somebody's property that you don't like and your proof that it's the best way is that anyone who disagrees with you is racist. You have a tired old schtick man. You've lost what little credibility you used to have. Atleast see4 is funny, you don't even have that going for you anymore, you can only tell the same joke so many times before it's annoying instead of funny.

I miss Ducky Bucky, he seemed like the kind of person you might actually invite to a party, nobody would want a person like you around them in a social setting. You should get out more, I think you've lost the ability to function in a polite society.

how many times do i have to demonstrate that this is not true by posting a list of members with whom i disagree greatly yet have never called them racist?

the racist label is earned.

no, no it's not. Nobody takes your claims of racism seriously. Not after you exposed yourself with fake stormfront accounts, set up a fake group to "expose" racists and stalked a man on a dating site. Sorry to ruin your party, but you are a bit of a joke dude. You are the Jerry Lewis of RIU, you are still yelling Laaaaaaady and think it's funny.

UB disagree on things with me, we used to troll each other in the past. Don't think he's ever called me racist.
