Hi bbs, thanks for answering ambient question.

One other question for you, did you do any adjusting on those led drivers you got prior to connecting cxa's or did you just wire and plugin?

Thanks as always and keep up the great
journal.

I also have this same question because bbs said he used a 50w driver at 1.5A for a 37V module. How does that work out to 50w? Based on my calculation you would have to buy a 60w 1400or1500mA driver.

I just wired them up directly to the driver. The LEDs can be run all the way to 100 Watts.

Each LED is pulling around 55W with the drivers I used.

As long as you have around 36-40 forward volts you can run these LEDs with a wide range of current.

Meanwell sells drivers that you can adjust the voltage and current so you could have them set to run at 50W and drive them all the way to 100W if you wanted to.

I've thought about adding these at some point because it would be pretty sweet to overdrive them a couple weeks mid flower.

The drivers I have are just 1.5A constant current

That is a really sweet idea! I was looking and the only driver I found by meanwell at a reasonable price was the LPC-60-1400. What dimmable driver did you have in mind? I'm still confused how your driver handles your LED at 55w? The driver is only rated for 50w.

Actually my driver can output anywhere from 37.5W to 60W. The voltage range the driver offers is from 25-40V at 1.5A. So it's not rated for only 50W, just that's what a good use for it is.

The meanwell hlg-100-42 is a driver that can adjust voltage and current and the max current of that driver is 2.28 which is just about the max of the CXA3050

I always go by what the listing says as 50w driver. I understand now how the max is calculated. Ill check that driver out!

Thanks!

Yeah, go by what the forward voltage and current is instead of what the driver says because even it says it's a 50W driver, it might not run a CXA3050 as the current could be 2A and voltage could be 25, which would not run a CXA3050 even though that's 50W

Thanks for response.

I ordered the same 2 drivers you are using and the same bin CXA 3050 .

They will be used in a 1.8 sf micro box with
about 12" of plant head room. I will lst
and scrog in organic soils. For me, flowers taste better grown in dirt versus water.

I have done Hempy grows and agree with you on its' merits of simplistic passive hydro. It always amazed me the growth
spurt when roots hit reservoir.

Looking forward to a picture or two of that
2 plant scrog. TGIF, Cheers!

On Hempy, add a layer of turface to bottom 1/2-1", porosity
and ion exchange and feeding is excellent. Use your same
medium up. I fed rain water dissolved un sulph. molasses,
fish emulsion, pulverized egg shell and powdered sea kelp.

Sorry for ramble! Lol

bbspills what do you think about efficiency? maybe 28w of heat coming off the 3050?

I bought a heatsink from heatsinkusa and a 9 cfm 1.6'' fan. I think it wil be ok.

edit:

Also did you space your 2 3050 12in apart on your old ds100?
