Hey BW, No worries. I use the hempy "soil" that you describe,
and I am still using the Botanicaire line of nutes, with B-52, Big Bud,
and Overdrive and additives. (ProBlend, Cal-Mag, Silica Blast, Liquid Karma)

I also feed compost teas and add the occasional organic treat.

ie. this morning was no Botanicaire, but a compost tea with a Kelp Extract added.

Take care, and thanks for stopping by..."three updates and no bites" I was
thinking, but then I realized...football! (after all, I just stopped in from watching,
as it is half-time! ;0)

Take care and thanks for dropping in.

I had bad luck with organic in my hempys.

It might be that I didnt water daily, but sometimes as long as 5 days between waterings.

I have read that theres no benefit to anything over 3 gal when it comes to hempy, but I think there must be.

I can go longer without watering for one.

Thanks guys.

LOL, the only reason for me to reduce the size of my containers would
be to increase their number. Ha! Nine is enough to have me worrying
about how well I am watching for bananas.

I fed the ladies a compost tea this morning. They are all progressing as expected.

I took some new photos, some last night under the HPS, with flash, and
another set this morning, right after lights off, using a flashlight to light the buds.

Enjoy...

Here's a funny one.

My Plushberry clone flowered while making root.

It is a male.

Wow...I have it in a hempy, making roots for the next Crop. LOL.
Well, I guess that I mis-read a pre-flower.

Not to worry. I will pop a new bean.

...and I think that I will watch the plant in the hempy. I want to confirm this.

Here are two of the three new hempys in the flowering tent.

P.S. You may notice some damage to the older leaves. They suffered briefly
while in the Veg area, but were hammered with Kapow! and then thoroughly
drenched in Fertilome Triple Action Plus before they went into flower.

That Somango is shiny with trichs and shes colorful!

I think the 5 gal hempy might as well be the norm, as the 3gal and up are the same diameter anyway.
You will lose like 5" height I suppose, but not a problem unless in a small cabinet IMO.

The height comment is astute.

I do deal with headroom.

See the Chemdog...but only one breed got away from me this Crop,
and it is not nearly as bad as about four plants were last Crop.

I am learning to deal with headroom and this is going to be the case
even if I hang my light from the ceiling.

On the other hand the height is part of these buckets tendency toward
a tall-thin profile, and these profiles are the best for getting air to the
roots.

IIRC, it is the balance between gravity pulling the water down and the
capillary effect of the soil pulling the water up. The effect is indepenent
of the shape of the container and it defines the "Perched Water Table".

So a wide-short container will have more soil below the PWT than a
tall-thin container. It is this damp, but not flooded, soil that a plant
thrives best in.

JD

P.S. The best thing about Somango is the taste. My favorite smoke so
far, along with Qrazy Train (which I lost)

I do agree with the air in the empty space and taller ones having more space for that beautiful O2 those roots thrive on.

I do love a great tasting strain, but some like myGDP x BB has either a fast tolerance or just not as strong a smoke.

For some reason I cant backspace without a blue line that deletes every letter one at a time...weird

Thanks guys.

Yeah, the HPS washes features out, but I have found that
so does a flash. So, I pointed an LED flashlight at the buds
for the "art shots".

Hello all,

I took a new series of shots.

I got the whole tent, from the same position, at lights on, right as
the lights went off (by accident), in the dark, and with the flash:

Thanks guys,

I use two Kessil 350s in my tent. One Purple and one Magenta.

I use them to supplement the grow, to add some blue, and to
handle out of control tops, like the Chemdog in the tent right now
that only the Kessil in that corner can illuminate from above.

When I referred to using LED above, that was my LED flashlight
that I was using to illuminate the buds for frostier photos. FWIW

Thanks for taking the time.
