A juror in the George Zimmerman trial who had recently moved to Florida from Chicago said today that Zimmerman "got away with murder" for killing Trayvon Martin and feels she owes an apology to Martin's parents.

"You can't put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty," the woman, identified only as Juror B29 during the trial, told ABC's "Good Morning America. "We had to grab our hearts and put it aside and look at the evidence."

"George Zimmerman got away with murder, but you can't get away from God. And at the end of the day, he's going to have a lot of questions and answers he has to deal with," Maddy told the show.

When the jury began deliberations, Maddy said she favored convicting Zimmerman of second-degree murder, which could have put him in prison for the rest of his life. The jury was also allowed to consider manslaughter, a lesser charge. "I was the juror that was going to give them the hung jury. I fought to the end," she said.

But on the second day of deliberations, Maddy said she realized there wasn't enough proof to convict Zimmerman of murder or manslaughter under Florida law.

she was one of three jurors who wanted zimm gone on manslaughter.

zimmy's really lucky that florida law is as lenient as it is, he would have gone away for a long time in most other states in the union.

No, he's not.. He's going to live the rest of his life never having to answer for shit, and when he dies, that'll be the end of the story.

But I hope this idiot juror feels better about herself, because that's what really matters..

she did what she had to do.

doesn't matter that zimmy profiled an innocent kid falsely and that the kid died for zimmy's mistake, the law is the law. you're allowed to do that in florida apparently.

my apologies that mundane facts upset you so much.
Actually quite the opposite, facts please me. You're the one upset the jury based their decision on facts not emotion. The fact a juror did want to convict based on "heart" doesn't change facts. I think the logical part of your brain is malfunctioning, homie.

One thing that disturbed me about Florida's justice system in the six person jury. I thought twelve jurors were standard everywhere in criminal cases but it seems Florida is one of six states that allow this bullshit. However, in death penalty cases the defendant still has the right to a twelve man jury.

As for the juror, I think a book deal is pending. What sounds like a better tag line - "Justice was done" or "He got away with murder." I think the latter will sell more books.

Manslaughter? You don't even go to prison for that.
i believe in florida you can get 15 years for it.

but meh, i'm happy he got to sit on the hot seat for 16 months. not to mention how the rest of his life will be spent looking over his shoulder.
