My plants are 5 weeks old. I keep the lights about 2" away from them. Why are they stretching soo much? I use 4 23watt CFLs for lighting. Do you think they need more? Any ides on how to stop the stretching?

P.S. Check out the weirdo plant that's developing a branch out of nowhere. I took a side shot so you can see what i'm talking about.

You'll need much more light. Here's mine at about five weeks. I have 4 23w CFl's and 150w hps. Are you using any nutrients? Sometimes they grow a bit oddly. Mine had a weird shoot to. You want the CFL's almost next to the plant. Also get more lights thats why their stretching.

no nutrients. what should i be giving them?
if youre plant is 5 weeks old(from the time it broke the soil till the pic was taken) then my plants are WAY to little and growing SUPER slow. how did you get it to grow that fast?
I plan on adding at least 3 26 watt CFLs maybe 6.

1. I would not say those plants are stretched at all. look at the distance between the branches(nodes). There is a small amount between each. Large gaps is what most refer to as stretching.

2. Those are 5 weeks? Are you talking 5 weeks from soil break bc those things have not been growing for 5 weeks. Way to small and undeveloped.

Ps. four 24 watt cfls should be able to veg those babies till they are 4-8 inchs then you are gonna want to add some more

My plants are 5 weeks old. I'm counting from the time they broke the soil until today. Their light/dark cycle is 22/2. I've been working them up to 24 hrs light to veg quicker.
