Made me sick too.You should ask Randy Weaver's 12 year old son that. Gunned down by a proffesional US government paid killer with full auto weapons. They successfully defended their actions as self defense. They shot the 12 year old in the back after he started running away because the Agents had already blown his left arm off.
That is not a universally-accepted definition of murder, if you need to resort to a state's law dictionary. Wikipedia does remark that "[a]s with most legal terms, the precise definition of murder varies between jurisdictions and is usually codified in some form of legislation."Ironically that can't be the legal definition of murder, because 3rd degree wouldn't exist.
I'm afraid the dictionary is behind on that word.
