Right now there are only 3 states that reconize one anothers mmj laws, rhode island, Michigan, and Montana. The reason that dude could travel with his plant is cause he was going from mi to mt. At least that's what the department of public Heath and human services site says

I don't know about the validity of this story. But when my friends from ca come they are covered under our state law for mmj. It's nice to trade strains and puff good on the lake.

i would suggest calling your local airport, speaking to the tsa there, the airport police, and anyone else you can. document the times of the calls, names, what they tell you, etc...my state is medical and everyone i spoke to told me it was fine to bring it with me on the plane, but once you land you are subject to the laws of that state....so i would also suggest calling your destination airport as well as doing a little research on mmj reciprocity laws. happy traveling.
